Hullo

I am sure this will have been done, and done to death, here already but I appear to have missed it.

An "ultimate" Morrissey album.

There are rules however;

1) No more than 14 tracks

2) There must be at least one track from each of the official studio releases (for me this means Viva Hate, Kill Uncle, Your Arsenal, Vauxhall and I, Southpaw Grammar, Maladjusted, You Are The Quarry and Ringleader of the Tormentors...I know, I know; "Where's "Bona Drag" but given it is, essentially, an early "best of" I'm not including it and I don't want to force people to include something from "World of Morrissey" or "Beethoven Was Deaf" either)

3) A maximum of 4 singles (this means officially released singles and not just tracks you would release as singles from your album)

4) A title

I await your contributions...mine will be along when I can settle on it!

Colonel Blimp

Yep, Johan hosted series of polls last year:

Best Morrissey songs
http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t=63208

Best Smiths songs
http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t=64185

Final of Final Best Smiths/Morrissey songs
http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t=65214

as you see, polls haven't closed yet, keep voting! :)

Yes, but, darling heart, none of those polls addresses the challenge I have set.

As you can see...if you read more carefully.

I can only imagine how silly you will feel having gone to all the effort of finding those polls only to realise that none of them has any relevance to the thread I have started.

Oooops.

Colonel Blimp

I must say Colonel Blimp this is a very good idea. The darling miss Kewpie must have forgotten an old thread that had much fewer rules about just assembling any twelve songs as an ultimate album. You rules you came up are similar to a thread I saw on another band's forum, so I understand the concept.

1: You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side
2: Interesting Drug
3: Sing Your Life
4: I Like You
5: The Operation
6: The National Front Disco
7: Late Night, Maudlin Street
8: The More You Ignore Me, the Closer I Get
9: Now My Heart is Full
10: Everyday is Like Sunday
11: Ammunition
12: On the Streets I Ran
13: You Must Please Remember
14: Speedway

Now I'm just gotta come up with a title, give me a moment...

I never feel being silly for digging out old threads. :p

Good luck to your thread.

Unruly boy...you haven't followed the rules!

You are only allowed 4 singles...you have, I think, 7!

You need to lose some of the singles.

You also don't have anything from "Southpaw Grammar"

You need something from each of the "studio" albums!

Come on now...you can do better!

That aside...it's a nice album!

Southpaw, not a lover of the album. Put it this way, nothing of the album would displace ANYTHING on my list.

As for B-sides, I rarely buy singles so i'm largely unfamiliar with most Morrissey B-Sides.

I should have followed the rules, but I think limiting the singles is a crap rule.

Sorry. I like my list:)

Doesn't quite comply with the rules, but I recently burned a CD which I call my 'Maudlin Street Mix' and which I never tire of listening to. I have burned the CD in chronological order, although I usually pay it in "Shuffle" mode.

The tracklisting is:

1. I Know It's Over
2. Death of a Disco Dancer
3. Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me
4. Late Night Maudlin Street
5. I've Changed My Plea to Guilty
6. I Know It's Gonna Happen Some Day
7. Now My Heart Is Full
8. Speedway
9. Nobody Loves Us
10. Trouble Loves Me
11. The Edges Are No Longer Parallel
12. Come Back to Camden
13. Friday Mourning
14. Dear God, Please Help Me
15. Life is a Pigsty

Truly life affirming!
