What song are you listening to right now?

Heard this in the car with P the other day and this man really wrote some heavy hits back in the day like this one from the 80's. One of those artists living every word he sings from his on and off depression that still makes him isolate himself for periods now and then.

Google translate of the lyrics in english:

What is that trap?
What kind of pit is that we, you, and I have fallen into
What kind of forces
What are the shadows that, riding us, night and day
Everything out there threatens us and haunts our hope
So close your window, lock your door
A black moon has risen

Hide my hands, hide my tracks
Hold me dear, hold me tight

If we were blinded, we were wrong when we did

Gave up everything, for a dream
Let your fingers like the mother of pearl let them
Touch me until I forget
I am worthless, rock to, the rhythm of my name
Take my allegiance, carry it tenderly, receive it as a lamb

Hide my hands, hide my tracks
Hold me dear, hold me tight

Pray that the sea will carry us away to a quiet and protected harbor
Brass sail, steer away, let us arrive sometime

Hide my hands, hide my tracks
Hold me dear, hold me tight
Hide my hands, hide my tracks
Hold me dear, hold me tight
Hide my hands, hide my tracks
Hold me dear, hold me tight
Hide my hands, hide my tracks
Hold me dear, hold me tight

I was twenty years old
She was an eternity
She taught me to live and to cry
She taught me everything I know
But people in town where I lived
Said she was sick or so
That she was maladapted
But she was too proud to listen
She lived on the wrong side of the river
In a closed milk shop
I was her young lover
From Stallbacka's car factory
We used to go around
In her Dodge -67
She said, "We drive all night
Because I want to see where all roads end "

Oh, let me hear it one last time
Play her darling song with Little Willie John
Sing to my soul, like a slow farewell
Play a sad song with Little Willie John

She used to pee and whisper:
"You have to leave town
Here are all hollows
Soon you are the same "
She said, "Do you want to walk the rope
So don't look down
Don't look aside
Close your eyes, take a step
You can get anything you want
I'll give you what you want
But it costs you more than money
Your love and some more
You know, I have debts for life
I carry a heavy old stone
But now we burn down the dairy shop and love in the glow of the flames "

Oh, let me hear it one last time
Play her darling song with Little Willie John
Sing to my soul, like a slow farewell
Play a sad song with Little Willie John

A song that awakens all the longing
A bird flies back to my heart
Feelings no soul can stop
I hear the words, I remember the joy
Feel the pain

Without a word she was gone
I went to her milk shop
In the yard a downed Dodge
There in an empty envelope
But after weeks of emptiness
Get a letter with no sender address
She wrote: "Some never learn
To go when everything is best "
She said, "Your life is your own
You own your thought and time
Don't let anyone take it away from you
Honey, you are a special individual "
She said her self-preservation
Told your feet to walk
And now she was far from here
That's all
Kiss and kiss and hey then

Oh, let me hear it one last time
Play her darling song with Little Willie John
Sing to my soul, like a slow farewell
Play a sad song with Little Willie John

Talk to me
Talk to me
In your own special way
Letter to my darling
Grits ain't groceries, Little Willie John
Need your love so bad
Need your love so bad
Need your love so bad
Little, Little, Little Willie John
Talk to me
Talk to me
Come on baby
In your own special way
Need your love
Talk to me, talk to me
Yeah, hey
Need your love so bad

Because of the title which in english means "The weekend of week 48" which happens to be this weekend. They play live in Gothenburg tonight.

Who walks across a square one Saturday night
Who goes home with the right one, who gets a bang?
Who is that happy, who smells burnt?
Who's bad for real, who's a joke?

It is late and it takes some time for the flowers to bloom
I see a car
I see a girl
I see a cop
Soon the weekend of week 48 has ended

It is late and it takes some time for the flowers to bloom
I see a bar
I see a man
I hear a howl
Soon the weekend of week 48 has ended

i was born to be free / to the golden grease of the reeperbahn / back in nineteensixtythree.

yeah, have seen the place several times. it's one of those vapid tourist traps, i prefer to avoid.

i have to take a second look at this album, turkey. some call it the best live recording ever. it was lying in a dusty cardboard box with lotsa classic music lps and scratched 7", and looked kinda 70s rumpled, like them old albums do, when they were actually listened to.
but it's back to work now through the rain and cold for a late meeting first...

Sounds like they cleaned up the Reeperbahn and made it bland.
Back when the Beatles were playin' there, it was supposed to be a Wild and rockin' spot.
What's that line from?
That Jerry Lee record is worth havin' in your collection, cause if ya in a certain mood, it's the perfect thing to play.
Have fun bein' a big shot and goin' to the excitin' meetin'.

got it for free coz there is no cover left and it's scratched all over. a 1974 release with a misprint, as the first song is called mean woman blues, not i got a woman.
my dad was a regular at the star club in the early 60s. the story goes that he shared a beer with john lennon there, which was never proved, and got in as a minor showing a fake id.
the line had just come to my mind, as i had thought about parantheses and clichés. does it make sense?

The The started life as a duo, then a four-piece, then a singular entity with a rotating cast of musicians that has included Johnny Marr, Simon Fisher Turner and Gail Ann Dorsey. (“I like to think of the The as a fluid thing,” Johnson told Melody Maker in 1993.

I don't think we get Johnny Marr on this cut, but we do get Jools Holland ticklin' the ivories.

They used that tune as intro tonight in Gothenburg before ripping into "up, up, up, down".

Here and now
Cease public road
Go in at your own risk
A person
Bird playing
In between or fish
Hi-hi down
Hi-hi down
Up, up, up, up
Down hi-hi
Down hi-hi
Down
Up, up, up, up
Down
One person cuts up
Their bad thoughts
Like a fence
Shortly thereafter a problem
Leaves the body and all the congestion
Wishes that hit
It happens infrequently
There will be something in between
Hi-hi down
Hi-hi down
Up, up, up, up
Down hi-hi
Down hi-hi
Down
Up, up, up, up
Down hi-hi
Down hi-hi
Down
Up, up, up, up
Down
Up, up, up, up
Down

Yeah, I liked that line a lot. Was wonderin' if it came from a poem or somethin', because I wanted to read some more of it.
Hope ya like the record. Guess ya can't go wrong with gettin' it free. My favorite part is High School Confidential/ Money.
Sounds like ya Dad has told ya all about the Star Club. Must have been some fun stories to hear. Did ya believe his story about John Lennon?

it was all wishful thinkin', on both sides, and as the star club was a symbol for everything that had once been alive in his life, he wanted to share that a lil, i think.
the record"s quality is okay, no more, no less. i just hope it's not too much of a strain to the fine needle of my new turntable.
i might consider workin on that reeperbahn poem. but dont expect too much, as the place has turned into a marketing cliché long ago. maybe it has always been and just needs to be bombed instead.
