Out with the Old, In with the New

How can we get the message to Senor Esteban that we would rather he played all his new songs and forget about the old. Save them for the encore, maybe--if he lasts that long.

Oye Esteban, Let's hear the new stuff!

Who's with me on this?

I thought he did really well with his Set List during this tour... What was it that you hoped to hear??? Sometimes you can't please anybody...

The setlist on this tour is great because HE picked them..meaning they are his favorite songs to sing. Personally i enjoyed it since it was my first time seeing Morrissey and I never had the chance to see The Smiths.
It would be nice though.. if when he comes back to california/vegas he changes the setlist..just a little.. maybe he can sing a little more from your arsenal??

Why would Morrissey play a set of new songs? Even one song for that matter. He would just be setting himself up for bootlegers to put out a new CD of all unreleased Moz songs and make a fortune off him. He's dumb for not playing LOST at Coachella, but he'd be a complete idiot to set himself up for yet another musical mis-adventure by adding a bunch of new songs to his set.

Sounds nice enough... I still would love to hear him do another Jam cover...

Actually I think he's waiting until he's picked up by a label before releasing anything new, besides I think he is trying to expand his fan base with people who only know his earlier work...

Has Morrissey ever played all-new, unrecorded, unreleased, never-before-heard songs on tour? I don't think so.

> Bootleg Paranoia aside, I am saddened by the lack of support for my request of a "brand new" Morrissey concert. What could be better than for Senor Moz to come on stage and say, "Oi! How 'bout the new songs, then? You twats that came to hear "Panic" and "Everyday is Like Sunday--prepare yourself for the worst night of your fookin life!"

Since the newest of Morrissey's material is now celebrating its 2-year anniversary, it's time to hear what the old man's been working on, eh?

Who's with me on this one?

In fact, let's conduct an unofficial poll:

Which would we rather see? A GREATEST HITS SHOW or a NIGHT OF ALL-NEW ENTERTAINMENT?

Depends

I'd prefer a Greatest Hits Tour ONLY
if he'd REALLY play the hits(as well as a few NEVER-PLAYED non-hits from his solo records and the Smiths). The hits- I mean songs he played on the Kill Uncle/Your Arsenal tours.

I saw him 10 times over the last decade and loved every show, but since '95 he's sort of neglected the material he played on the 1st couple of solo records and the 1st two tours.

The idea of all-new sounds like a fantastic idea, but I wanna see/hear him play the hits one more time BEFORE he decides to retire from touring/recording for good. This, sadly, may be sooner than we care to admit.

I'd have to say Greatest Hits. It's more exciting when you know the
songs, and can sing along. Although the first time I heard "Jack the
Ripper" was live at The Ritz in 92 and I was completely awestruck
by that song. But still, that was one song among a host that I new
by heart. And I've seen the setlist for this tour and it looks
grand. Except for "Break Up the Family," never a favorite.
How about "Ordinary Boys" instead. Well, I guess you know where
my heart lies.

Yes, finally someone shares this sane opinion. The old songs are great, but they've been PLAYED. I wanna hear the new stuff because I'm a true fan of his songs, it's not all about watching him weild a banana, ya know? I don't care if he has a record deal or not, there is no excuse for not playing new songs. Damnit.

NEW AND IMPROVED

ALL-NEW ENTERTAINMENT OF COURSE.

most people, in the most cynical sense, like to cling to the old. It's safe, its not surprising, its gratifying...but there is a minor subset of the population that appreciates the spontaniety of expression. However, most people do not accept it, and only the minimally few get a chuckle from it.
