Dream setlist with one song from each album (incl Hatful and Bona). Also took the liberty to include three encores: one rarity, one solo classic and TIALTNGO, because it might be the best song ever. At least top 5.

Not a very poppy or uplifting setlist, but I’m calling the shots here.

1. Teachers…
2. I want the one…
3. WMTWD
4. Camden
5. WLYK
6. Maudlin

20. You Were Good…
21. NMHIF

ENCORE:

He’s obviously too busy working for free.
All the gigs will sell out, of course. Whether he turns up to all the gigs is another matter altogether.
As for all those posting setlists and speculating what the “40 years of Morrissey” might mean… it means nothing. He will continue to play 19 (20, if you’re lucky) of the same 25 songs he has played for the last few of tours. Some nights, he might change up the order of those 19 songs, so that’s something to look forward to at least.
Working for free or working for passion?

This whole "40 Years of Morrissey" thing has got me thinking, since they're using album titles on the tour images... Given that we're lucky these days to get a setlist of 20 songs in one evening, and there are 20 studio albums to choose from (I'm including Hatful and the two unreleased ones, whatever), and there's a rule of one song from each album, what would be your personal setlist?

I don't necessarily mean the best song from each record, but 20 songs that would make up, for you, a great Morrissey show?

The Smiths
Hatful of Hollow
Meat Is Murder
The Queen Is Dead
Strangeways Here We Come
Viva Hate
Kill Uncle
Your Arsenal
Vauxhall and I
Southpaw Grammar
Maladjusted
You Are the Quarry
Ringleader of the Tormentors
Years of Refusal
World Peace Is None of Your Business
Low in High School
California Son
I Am Not a Dog on a Chain
Bonfire of Teenagers
Without Music the World Dies
Sorry, not sticking to the rules, but I have made up a setlist all the same. Probably won't ever happen in a month of Sundays, but... you never know! You never know...

You're Gonna Need Someone On Your Side
Headmaster Ritual
Suedehead
The Ordinary Boys
I Am Veronica
The Teachers Are Afraid Of The Pupils
Used To Be A Sweet Boy
Everyday Is Like Sunday
I Will See You in Far Off Places
Jacky's Only Happy When She's Up On The Stage
Seasick, Yet Still Docked
Suffer The Little Children
Ganglord
My Hurling Days Are Done
Nobody Loves Us
Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me
Jack The Ripper

Encore:
This Charming Man

If I could stretch the 18 song setlist a tad, I feel that There Is A Light and Speedway would be nice additions... :thumb:

Who are we kidding? It will be nearly identical to the setlist he's been playing with a few minor surprise additions here and there.

Paint a Vulgar Picture
Sing Your Life
National Front Disco
Well I Wonder
Southpaw
Trouble Loves Me
I Will See You in Far Off Places
Squeezing My Skull
Forgive Someone
Back to the Old House

Crashing Bores
Once I Saw the River
Now My Heart is Full
(Will omit Without Music at this stage & chuck in Disappointed instead)
Encore: Hand in Glove

Maybe the Booyah Tribe is going to open a few of the shows? That would be funky fresh and fly..

You would think after 40 years Moz would have some real guitar players in his touring band!
As a long time fan I don't like the current live "power chord arrangements" of the classic songs.
All the awesome melodic lead guitar parts and cool tones are missing now and the songs sound like lifeless teenage cover band versions.

The last tours after covid where the best live shows I've seen in almost 20 years!
The band never sounded better! what happened?

I don’t know, I recorded the same songs from gigs with Alain and Gustavo and often struggle to tell the difference with most songs. The new band definitely took a while to get into the swing but I think they sound great now.
Stop me if you think that you’ve heard this one before but stop me if you think that you’ve heard this one before sounds identical at Troxy to how it did in Hammersmith early this year - Great at both! 😆

If its one from each album, something like:

What difference does it make
Well I wonder
Boy with the Thorn or I know it's over
Vulgar picture (quite fitting on a retrospective theme!)
Maudlin Street (I'll never forgive whoever butchered it on the remaster)
Sing Your Life
Seasick or National Front Disco
Why don't you find out for yourself
Southpaw
Trouble loves me
I'm not sorry or crashing bores
Pigsty or youngest was the most loved
Good in your time
Istanbul
My love I'd do anything for you or spent the day in bed
Darling I hug a pillow

Encore of a few chart pleasers:

Playboys
More you ignore me
First of the gang

Speedway

Then time to go home.

(I've put some as either/or because my first choices are all more slower and that would make the set list kinda turgid. The secondary choices would be a bit more 'lively'.) The order could be re-jigged as he saw fit.

Here's a list based not on albums but on a quick tally of the most popular songs in this thread so far:-

SOUTHPAW
LIFE IS A PIGSTY
STILL ILL
LATE NIGHT MAUDLIN STREET
THERE IS A LIGHT THAT NEVER GOES OUT
NOW MY HEART IS FULL
ONCE I SAW THE RIVER CLEAN
THE NATIONAL FRONT DISCO
SPENT THE DAY IN BED
TROUBLE LOVES ME
WELL I WONDER
COME BACK TO CAMDEN
SPEEDWAY
ISTANBUL
SING YOUR LIFE
SOME SAY I GOT DEVIL
YOU'RE GONNA NEED SOMEONE ON YOUR SIDE
BACK TO THE OLD HOUSE
THE NIGHT POP DROPPED
SOMETHING IS SQUEEZING MY SKULL
SUEDEHEAD

(anyone with more time/interest feel free to correct if needed!)
