The decade became the decade of the television series
Tableau viewing is declining and the range of streaming services is increasing. It has been a long time since "everyone" watched the same television program at the same time.
It is said that the function of the TV media and TV series as a campfire and conversation topic around which we all gather has disappeared during the 10th century.
But is that really true? I think people hardly talk about anything else - TV shows have become the new weather when talking about long heat waves and rainy days become too charged in the wake of the climate crisis. In addition, the topic of conversation is developable. If we have not seen the same series or come as far into the action, we can tell each other about good series and maybe even invite to a series marathon at home on the couch.
Looking back over the past decade, there are some TV shows that have become such great snack ice creams that they have affected everything from the daily rhythm to our way of talking and dressing.
Take, for example, the groundbreaking and addictive Norwegian TV series "Skam". The one who started in December 2016 got people of all ages to stay up all night to follow the teen characters Noora, William, Eva, Sana, Isaac and Vilde in their mutual relationships and problems. In Sweden, people started talking Norwegian, and around the world fans made their own translations from the Norwegian and posted on Youtube. Nora's clothing style became fashion and young people and their parents suddenly had lots to discuss.
After all, you can't go past HBO's fantasy epic "Game of Thrones" when talking about 10s and TV series. It has continued throughout the decade. The first season, the most expensive ever recorded, began showing in April 2011 and the last season ended earlier this year. "Game of Thrones" has undoubtedly raised the bar for what a TV series can be and even though many fans were disappointed in the last season, the series is truly a popular cultural milestone.
You can list countless American and British comics that made imprints, such as "Sherlock", "House of Cards", the anthology series "True Detective", "Breaking Bad", "Stranger Things", "The Crown", "The Handmaid´s tale "and popular" Dowton Abbey ".
But in Sweden, it is after all Swedish series that weigh most. Sofia Helin's character Saga Norén in "The Bridge" is unforgettable, as is Nina and Gustaf in "Our time is now". But the one who has really taken a seat in our lives during the 10's is Ove Sundberg as Henrik Dorsin with his "The servant man" has made the decade's worst, slimmest and most welcoming and unwelcome neighbor in Felix Herngren's creation "The Sun Side".
