The Smiths during their second ever gig/public appearance at gay club Manhattan Sound in Spring Gardens, Manchester. Factory records’ Tony Wilson turned up as well as Richard Boon, Manager of Buzzcocks.

James Maker remained in the lineup as the go go dancer/ co front man although it would be his last Smiths show. Andy Rourke makes his debut after replacing sacked Dale Hibbert who had appeared with them just once at the Ritz on Whitworth Street.
