You know, the song gets a fairly regular rap on the knuckles, but I think the unbridled, but legitimate, optimism of "Sing Your Life" is really appealing. I think that recording is an absolute gem. Before I knew of The Smiths, I listened to it with a great deal of enthusiasm. Its marriage of music and lyric, at least for me, is undeniably attractive. I wish that really was the Morrissey song that means 'life' to me, but perhaps I'm being unfair to myself. It certainly is one of the strong contenders... on good days...
