For Britain ceases to exist, Anne-Marie Waters says her support "has collapsed"

Well, that's a right f***ing shame, innit? Wonder how Mogsy's gonna take the news?

Excerpt:

For Britain, one of the UK’s most prominent far-right parties, has suddenly announced it will cease operations.

Anne Marie Waters, head of the anti-immigrant For Britain party, said her support “has collapsed” and that she is quitting electoral politics immediately. “The process of closing everything down has started today,” she said in a statement to members.

...

Her party was once deemed one of the best-organised far-right parties in the country, boasting a handful of councillors. Tommy Robinson, who has the largest online following of any far-right activist in Britain, gave the party a boost when he joined this spring. The Smiths frontman Morrissey said that Waters was the first person in his life that he had voted for.

Is that a computer on the desk?

Truly an excellent picture, and we won't discuss this, but that cross on the mantle and what looks to be a porcelain statue of the Blessed Mother on the side table are actually some good evidence for your theory that Morrissey is more than just a vestigial Catholic. I still don't see him practicing, but I will upgrade his status to potentially being a Catholic at heart.

That does indeed look like a computer. Spencer Cobrin once wrote him a note asking how the screenplay was coming along, so I'm guessing it was being composed on that computer.

Still on a knife edge - but some good signs.

A good sign (if any ideological change of mind has occurred) would be removing the videos from Morrissey Central and issuing a retraction of the implicit endorsements. The only thing that seems to have been learned is to not publish alt-right-sympathetic posts anymore in order to avoid the headache. It tells us nothing about whether he, or more likely Rayner, still harbors those sympathies. We can only guess. You can certainly suppose, if you want to, that they're chastened good boys now, but it's still just that: a supposition.

That's bullshit - anyone could lie to protect their reputation.

The pace & timing of change suggests a change in perception.

And they were never "sympathetic" to the alt-right. The whole time Morrissey thought he was expressing left-wing principles, which had been abandoned.

Change in perception about what? That Watson and Styxhexen are alt-rightists who hate vegans? If Morrissey &/or Rayner have perceived that much, then they would presumably remove those videos and publish a retraction in order to sincerely reflect their change in perception (assuming they are committed vegans without alt-right sympathies).

Is this something he told you in your capacity as an intern at Morrissey Central? "You know, Vexy, I have no idea how it's all come to this. I honestly thought the Trumpkin Info Wars commentator who uses the 'soy boy' pejorative every ten minutes was perfectly in line with the left-wing principles I was trying to express."

He doesn't need to apologise for getting the wrong impression when he was lied about by people who spent more time amplifying the far right than Central ever has.

McFate - Morrissey SAID HE thought the left was behaving like the right.

It's in his statements & interviews.

You're going to have to get some new material - this'll get as stale as the cheese wheel.

Of course he doesn't need to apologize for "getting the wrong impression." He needs to apologize for not doing one minute's worth of due diligence on Google after those posts appeared on his website.

It's fine if "Morrissey SAID HE thought the left was behaving like the right." But in those instances on his site, he was behaving like the right too, even if that was not his intention. Clarification is needed; the videos should be removed. He probably doesn't give a f*ck at this point. That's his right. But he used to be more artful and clever in his not giving a f*ck. He was not just a typical snot with a safety pin in his nose.

The press didn't do due diligence on him - so there was no source he could trust.

They should apologise.

What on earth does the press have to do with this?

He, or his nephew, or somebody, posted videos of alt-right goons on Morrissey Central, with no qualifications or explanations. If Morrissey had exercised even an ounce of oversight, he could have found out that those commentators were bad hombres. He wouldn't need a press source. He could just search for "paul+joseph+watson+vegan" on Google, and find this result on the first page, coming from Watson himself: "Eating more meat cures depression. Don’t be a depressed, vegan loser. Eat more meat." Watson is a habitual critic of "soy boys." Morrissey could've just looked him up on Wikipedia, for Christ's sake. How much time and effort does it take to type a name into a search engine?

It is thoroughly unbecoming that Morrissey would allow this turd to be linked multiple times on "Messages from Morrissey," as recently as last year. What are people to think? You can speculate yourself all the way to "Morrissey is an innocent angel" if you want (based on your own oracular knowledge of what Morrissey and Rayner think), but you can't be surprised if people who aren't privvy to your own special gnosis think he's gone nuts. Again: no explanations, no retractions, and the videos remain up. I'm glad that he appears to have left all this stuff in the dust, and has returned to form with a fine new batch of songs, but this is nevertheless the internet, where things do not go away, and those farts still linger and stink, and you don't have enough scented candles.

That is just tedious.

I really don't see the point of these types of threads on here.
12 pages of textual ping pong, utter nonsense & wasted energy by 'some'. Is all this arguing actually going to change anything?
No. Didn't think so. Get a grip!

That is just tedious.

At least it's factual: no explanations, no retractions, and the videos remain up.

The only thing being offered in the way of explanation are the pretended omniscient suppositions of someone who claims to know the minds of Morrissey and Rayner, without actually knowing them personally.

Is all this arguing actually going to change anything?
No. Didn't think so. Get a grip!

Of course it isn't. But we who do not have comfortable lives in Los Angeles, sipping Coronas by the pool under the tall palms and the warm sun, with the scent of potted bougainvillea, enjoying the company and conversation of Jason Schwartzman and Zooey Deschanel—we must have some other, more bitter, and plebeian way to pass the time.
