You have a great appreciation for the female voice. I think that is wonderful.

Was Journey just a junior high thing, then? Or do you still love them?

HAS THE WHOLE WORLD GONE MAD?!?!?!?!?!

Of course you know I'm listening to David Lee Roth era Van Halen lately, so who am I to talk??

The voice is crucial to pop music. I don't have it in my mind that I PREFER female vocalists, but I do like distintive singers as a general rule and a lot of the male vocalists fronting bands I might normally like more often than not spoil it. Female singers are less common and also tend to have more feeling.

Morrissey has a very special voice. Sometimes people say it's his lyrics that matter most. His lyrics are fantastic. But his singing voice is equally important.

I don't know what I look for in a vocalist. I just know it when I hear it. The don't have to sing well. They have to have a voice that's interesting in some way. Hope Sandoval has an erotic voice and it sounds like she's been shooting smack. I like that.

I can't love a band if they don't have a singer who's voice is special.

A lot of male singers nowadays sound very generic to me. Ya know?

Doesn't matter the genre. There's the genric indoe-boy singer -yuck. There's the metal boy singer - ew. I'd like heavy metal a lot more if every male singer wasn't doing the same thing (sounding like they're swallowing their mics) with their voices.

It just so happens that a lot of female voices touch me more.

However, there's also a problem with many female singers in indie rock. they do the cutesy-cutesy thing with their voices. That can get old.

Strictly junior high -- you would have to pay me to listen to a whole album now, lol.

I still like Van Halen. I think I am gonna listen to Jamie's Crying now.

Concerning Hope Sandoval, the vocals have always been the biggest draw for me as well. My most beloved female vocalist is still Maria Taylor -- her lugubrious phrasing sends me into transports.

And, in terms of sheer eroticism, never get me started on sopranos...

> Oh, go back to your Journey CDs!

Why, whats the matter? truth hurt? f*** mazzy star. They suck.

Hey, two fat people getting gang raped by richard simmons sounds better than mazzy star

LOL!!!!! Randy Jackson? You're right, that incarnation was atrocious. The PIMP likes alot of bands, not just journey. You should listen to these cool cats from cali named :the plimsouls. They're righteous dudes you dig? they rock.

I cannot listen to Sammy Hagar at all.

"Van Halen", "Van Halen II," "Diver Down," and "1984" were amongst the first cassettes I got when I was starting to buy music as a kid. I had purged most of my cassettes later on, and never replaced Van Halen because I didn't think that was my kind of music anymore. But I found that I missed those albums and have started picking up the CDs. They're fun when you're in the mood.

you really like the Hagar stuff? He bugs me.

DLR without a doubt 'was' Van Valen. Sammy couldn't cut it, IMO.
