I've always appreciated the fact that Alain is willing to say anything about his relationship with Moz. Both Boz and Jesse seem to be too terrified to say anything in public-i can't see them willing to talk about any vaguely controversial figures like Marr or Gannon.

Mick Ronson came up with the legendary bass line for Walk on the Wild Side? Wow. That’s a significant revision of rock history I think, and one that would seem to merit some further investigation. Isn’t it generally credited to Herbie Flowers?

I guess he's cagey because he's fully aware whatever happens next is up to Morrissey, not him. Not much point in Alain laying out huge plans at this stage - on a whim Moz could change his mind and he suddenly finds he's out of the band again and Boz back in, or his songwriting services are no longer required. Alain seems aware that his position is precarious - but even if it all ends again tomorrow, it looks as though this return has been mentally healing for him, and will help get rid of the bitter taste of the previous exit.
”Forgive, Don’t be petty, Band just fizzled out”. The exit wasn’t right. Ya, Right. Glad you had the luxury To bury your demon. You throw people away like trash when they are no longer of use.

Would have loved to be sitting at the next table when Alain and Johnny met for coffee!

Alain mentions being related to Joe Strummer, and also mentions The National Front Disco. He doesn't connect the two, but I see from Wikipedia that Joe had a brother, David, who was a Nazi and member of the National Front (before killing himself in 1970). I wonder if this has been discussed on here already.

From what I always heard, Alain and Boz weren't really into the Smiths at all.
They only really started listening when they joined M.
It was then Alain decided to ape Johnny, as he released that's what M really wanted
But I guess he would know

Alain doesn't seem like the brightest person.
Yes M could be the would-be leader of Brit-pop, lots of those bands were into Smiths, Damon loved the Smiths has stuck up for him, to this day. A lot of the Brit pop lot actually quoted old M interviews. The thing is though, The Jam were also pro brit poppers and M got stuff from them and all of them got it from The Kinks Its tradition.
That's right. He is not very bright. All of the gig/ram space is taken by Music and left nothing for Moral compass or what is known as normal "Human Interaction". I've seen more sincere smiles on Halloween masks. Sincerely Yours, A Roman Nose that knows.

Always got time for Alain. Seems very genuine, a classy guy who has dealt with some pretty undignified comments / treatment over the years and still seems to have a good attitude. He seems to bear no grudges. I love that he met Johnny for coffee.

Two things from the interview...and John Robb pinned Alain on it a little...was there a clause in his return to the fold that the labds with C Gannon tour wouldn't happen...Again very sketchy on details but I'd imagine a pre req for Moz....also more out of curioustity J Robb mentioned he was the same age as Alvin's boss...assume its Moz but doesn't his face look very "fresh"...love his commentary but as an aside has he got a bit of work done!!!

He has dealt some pretty "Undignified, "Bad Treatment" to others. Doesn't bear grudges ? Oh yes he does. "Classy Guy" classy as the day is long. Never meet your heroes. Play in a band with them at your own risk or get things in writing and definitely get paid or quit immediately.

Sounds like he learned a few lessons from Moz.

john robb has been around forever, somebody iv always liked, just a guy who loves music, good interview,he doesnt butt in every two seconds like most interviewers.

Well, of course, Richard was in the Longpigs, who were a Suede wannabe band that happened to be good.
Their first LP was great. Richard was meant to be in M's band but M didn't want him, probably due to his looks.
To me I think it was a crying shame, Richard music-wise is way way beyond Alain, I don't say that to be cruel. Richards's first few LPs were great. He would have taken M some great places.
Whatever, this was nice to listen to .
Thank you

I think it was due to Richard singing at his try-out.

So what’s the actual deal, has Boz left the band for sure? I know that he didn’t play at that last run of shows in Vegas, but I’ve never heard either way what his status is? What’s going on with that?

Boz has opened up a record shop in Portugal and seems pretty settled over there.
