Dublin venue change, one date only (Dec. 2)

Thanks to everyone for sending the news. From Conor Rowan:

Morrissey will only do one concert in Dublin. This will be in The Olympia Theatre on Dame street on Thursday Dec. 2 instead of the National Concert Hall on the 1st and 2nd. I heard rumours in Galway and Limerick so I rang the venue today and they confirmed this.

And from Sanest Daze:

I've just been to the ticket office at the National Concert Hall (to get some extras) and they informed me that the venue has been changed to the Olympia. Also, the Wednesday night concert has been cancelled. According to the NCH Morrissey's management requested the change of venue today. All tickets are transferable, but I haven't a clue about the seating arrangements.

If anyone has any more info on this strange development please e-mail me.

(Nov. 30) From Stephen Campion:

I was on to the N.C.H. last night and they said that Morrissey's management wanted all of the seats removed and that the N.C.H. could not facilitate this as the seats are a permanent fixture.

No BBC / Derry concert footage

Regarding the previously mentioned concert footage that was supposed to air... From Paul:

Just want to say that I was the guy who filmed the feature on MORRISSEY IN DERRY. Don't get too excited though, there's no footage of the concert and no interview. Though believe me I tried my best. Unfortunately Morrissey's tour manager turned out to be a bit sensitive as to my being there. Could be something to do with the fact he didn't want this poor turn out caught on camera.

Just to say though, I was more than offended to see "Meat Is Murder" done basically as a thrash metal number, with those three Rockabilly jokes literally licking their guitars and prancing about the stage as if they owned the bloody song.

Apart from that though I've never seen Moz looking so good (very slim), singing so beautifully (about a octave up on recent years) and having so much chat with the crowd (In Derry he commented "If anyone's here to see the Eamon Morrissey gig - that's tomorrow night. I'll hear it'll be quite a show").

Like a prodigal son I have returned. The man is a God. Sorry, the man IS God.

Morrissey's interesting look

Regarding the flawless outfits He is wearing on tour:

HELMUT LANG's "Painter Jeans- Classic Cut" (available with gold, silver or white "spots" print from Fall/Winter 1999/2000 Collection).

GUCCI's smoking jacket (black velvet with silk satin lapels from Fall/Winter 1998/1999 Collection).

Dublin (Dec. 1, 2) - National Concert Hall site mention

From Aidan:

The National Concert Hall, Dublin (where Moz will play on Wednesday & Thursday) is usually a classical music venue, which is probably why they had trouble advertising Moz's band, which now apparently contains Boz Boozer on guitar!

excerpt:

...At MTV Online, we've heard rumblings in the office for such bands as the Pixies, Living Colour, The Smiths, and New Kids On The Block; we're also intrigued by such possibilities as the Talking Heads, Arrested Development, or even Menudo featuring Ricky Martin.

...Write to us at the address below and tell us what pop, rock, rap, and hip-hop bands you'd most like to see get back together, and why. You never know what sort of Y 2 Kiss And Make Up possibilities the new millennium will bring.

"The Arcane Old Wardrobe" - new URL, other site stuff

  • "The Arcane Old Wardrobe" has a new URL, http://arcane.morrissey-solo.com.

As I'm sure most of you know, this often-updated site created by The Comtesse DeSpair is the best interview and image archive around, for both Smiths and Morrissey solo eras. Be sure to update your bookmarks and links. It is an honor for me to help host the site.

  • Thanks to Jake In Retirement (who is currently traveling through Ireland for the concerts there) for 4 new tour-related works of art which are now in rotation on the tour page.

And again, thanks to those who have posted information and reviews for each concert - it's very much appreciated.

  • Recently the speed of the site has increased, the line has been upgraded from 384k to 768k (you may or may not notice). The line seems to be much more stable lately, hopefully it remains that way.
