Hi,

If you go on www.morrisseymusic.com now, you will see just a "MMVI" and an invitation to subscribe a mailinglist.

"MMVI" means "2006" in roman letters... logical because Moz is in Rome, no??)

A new site, for a new album?

According to this month's Q Magazine, which features a thumbnail shot of Morrissey on the cover (circa 1984, complete with flowers in the foreground), Morrissey comes in at number 6 in this poll. Ahead of him are: Paul Heaton (The Beautiful South), Brian May, Dido, Sir Cliff Richard and Lou Reed.

Seems like the silly season isn't yet over.

Lillywhite is one of the most respected and influential producers and was integral in carving a distinct sound to the UK music scene in the mid 70s and early 80s and has continued to do so to the present day. The list of artists is vast and includes some of the biggest names of the time.

Last night, 05 Oct 2005, on HBO's comedy program ONE NIGHT STAND, stand-up comedian Omid Djalili, performed (episode ONE NIGHT STAND 62: OMID DJALILI).

Near the very end of the show, (last 5 minutes or so) Omid is commenting on his observations of Iranian men dancing at the disco (Omid is a British-born Iranian). He performs various parodies on men dancing at the disco. In one of his descriptions he says something to the effect of "this one is a cross of an Iranian man and Morrissey dancing", and then he a "dance about the stage imitating Morrissey on stage" where Morrissey waves his arms around and twisting and turning.

It was familiar of Morrissey's actions, but it was more interesting to hear Morrissey's name mentioned and the audience response to his "dance"; that they actually may have known who Morrissey was.

Omid Djalili's performance is on HBO on Demand through 20 Nov 2005. I checked the regular HBO schedule for him, but do not see this episode playing again this month.

Comedy taste is an individual thing, I am not endorsing this program or HBO, just informing of the Morrissey reference.

Theatre: A Taste of Honey - The Herald

Mark Fisher

Until Sat Oct 8, 7.30pm, Citizens' Theatre, Gorbals Street, Glasgow, £14 (£6), 0141 429 0022

Spot the Morrissey quotes as TAG theatre company gives an airing to Shelagh Delaney's classic 1950s drama, a play much loved by the early Smiths. And with good justification. Written in 1958, before Delaney was even 20, A Taste of Honey came to be regarded as an icon of the decade, creating a vision of working-class Manchester life that has lost none of its sparkle.

It tells the story of teenager Josephine and her love-hate relationship with her mother, exacerbated when the girl becomes pregnant by a black serviceman. Delaney captures their wickedly funny banter and a sense of the poverty, sexual repression and racism of the era.

After Glasgow, the play goes on tour; call 0141 552 4949 or see www.tag-theatre.co.uk

Went to see 3rd Eye Blind at a club on Long Island this past weekend, and this 3 piece band named The Upwelling opened for them. As the band was ready to play the lead singer says "Because if it's not love then it's the bomb that will bring us together!" I don't think many people picked up on it, but they went right into their opening song, and it was not The Smiths or Moz ! but they were a good band......VIVA MOZ !
