Hi,

If you go on www.morrisseymusic.com now, you will see just a "MMVI" and an invitation to subscribe a mailinglist.

"MMVI" means "2006" in roman letters... logical because Moz is in Rome, no??)

A new site, for a new album?

    Thanks Guillaume.

I suspect it will still suck as Sanctuary/Attack doesn’t seem very concerned about updating it. I mean Moz at IOW was cancelled several months ago and MozMusic still had that under their "recent news" headline until this latest facelift. Anyway, I hope they get their act together...but given their track record from March 2004 (when the Manchester birthday concert was first announced and the site went up) to present it seems unlikely that this new look will have any real substantive change. Sanctuary/Attack has been a good label for Morrissey that has spawned a successful partnership, however, that site has always been a colossal waste of time and I am reluctant to post there after Moz trashed it in a press release concerning IOW, saying “I have no connection at all with the site called Morrisseymusic.com. It is controlled by Sanctuary and I am neither consulted nor involved.” In essence that site is no more official in Morrissey’s mind than this one. The difference, of course, is that SOLO provides news content in a timely fashion and is regularly updated because fans actually put some work into this place from the Webmaster, to those that submit news items, and everyone who helps make this the Mecca of all Moz sites.

Or,maybe, this is just the first of the nine gates, and you have to throw your email nine times in the hole to get in. What was that gotham-city-like M, a big organism of self-defense against hostile bodies (hackers, and the kind?). • The facelift for the web-site is presumably Sanctuary's effort at keeping in with Morrissey's 'Tormentor' theme. They are hinting at big things for 2006 and have decided to 'torment' us by saying nothing else.

During the Isle of White debacle Moz said he had no involvement with morrisseymusic.com, so I don't think there is any point in trying to extract any additional meaning from 'MMVI'…………….. No…… wait a minute….. Fox Mulder just called me and told me that it means "Meat = Murder. Vegetarians Insist".

But then again I think "Ringleader of the Tormentors" is an inside joke for "First of the Gang."

  • The roman numerals have nothing to do with Morrissey being in Rome.
The whole meaning behind the 'six' is because the new album is being released June 6th, 2006! Its very easy to figure out. Its quite 'devilish' on Moz's thinking, but quite cool in the same 'sixth' sense. Here goes: Year, Month and Day= 666. June {six month}, Day 6{6th of June} , Year-{6th of 2000}. Even the title of the new album sounds kind of horror-ish as well. Hmmm?

  • New Morrissey Album Due Out in April ?

Pitchfork Media site says that the new Morrissey album will be released in April. Is this contrary to other sources reporting that the album will be released in early 2006?

    From: Pitchfork Media
    http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/news/05-10/07.shtml# morrissey

    Morrissey Titles New Album
    Timothy Najmolhoda reports:

Wow, there sure are a lot of Morrissey fan websites out there. I thought that one, maybe two, would be enough to sustain the world's thirst for The Boy With The Thorn In His Side. But I typed the Moz's name into Google (and then once again, but this time spelled correctly), and I saw how woefully wrong I was. This guy seriously has a cult. Who knew?!

Whether each site fulfills some different niche of Morrissey fandom, I don't know, but right now they're all abuzz with the same news: Jeff Saltzman, the Killers producer who was previously set to twiddle knobs on Morrissey's forthcoming album, is no longer working on the project. Taking his place in the studio is the legendary Tony Visconti, best known for his work with T. Rex and David Bowie.
But there's more! NME.com reports that the album in question now has a title: Ringleader Of The Tormentors.

Nice to see that Morrissey's political attacks aren't getting more subtle in his old age, eh? Ringleader is Morrissey's first studio album since 2004's You Are The Quarry, which won Pitchfork's coveted "38th-Best Album of 2004" award. According to True to You, one of the aforementioned fan sites, Morrissey describes the new album as "the most beautiful-- perhaps the most gentle so far." Strange, considering his publicist told us last month that this would be a "balls-to-the-wall" rock record, and "not slow like the last one." Fans will find out who's telling the truth when the album is released next April. It better be some weird fusion of hardcore and folk, or we'll be totally disappointed.
