X-clusive: Morrissey Caught 'Under the Influence'

DMC, the record company behind the renowned 'Back to Mine', celebrity compilation album series has announced a new collection of release assembled by some of music’s biggest stars – first up, Morrissey.

In the past DMC’s 'Back to Mine' asked famous musicians to collect their favourite ‘after the pubs shut’ albums from their own record collections. Previous releases have included albums amassed by such luminaries as Death In Vegas, The Orb, Faithless, Talvin Singh and New Order amongst others.

DMC’s latest venture entitled 'Under The Influence' plans on drawing on the tracks that inspired some of the world's greatest recording artists and Xfm Online can reveal the first person to sign up is legendary (and famously reclusive) Smiths front man Morrissey.

Mozzer will be laying down the first collection due for release in May of this year. Although his collection of songs are still being licensed expect offerings from the likes of The New York Dolls, Diana Dors, Patti Smith and The Ramones.

In July, another musical guru will be unleashing their favourite tracks as ex-Stone Roses singer Ian Brown collates his big hitters.

Keeping checking www.xfm.co.uk for more track details for both albums.

I Like You - Moz talks about influences on new TV show

Morrissey is the first artist to be featured in a new show called "Under the Influence", which explores the record collections of great recording artists.

The company, who also made "Back to Mine", a kind of Dance Music 'Through the Keyhole', will be unleashing this new show on us at the end of May. The tracks are still being licensed so we have no idea yet what the former Smiths man picked. Any ideas?

Some New York Dolls? Ramones? Sandie Shaw? Cilla Black?

Moz only knows.

I was at the Academy Awards website this morning and noticed that in the short film (live action) category 'This Charming Man' was nominated. Here's the synopsis:

"When Lars Hansen's identity number is confused with that of an immigrant named El Hassan, Lars finds himself enrolled in a Danish class taught by a young woman he used to tease when they were students together."

I saw Louis Vuitton Haute Couture Homme during the fashion week in Paris, Marc Jacobs (Vuitton's designer) said he was inspired by The Smiths and mods for this collection. While the models were walking through the catwalk, a remixed version of "This Charming Man" was playing. but I don't know what remix it was.
