Do Morrissey fans still come to the Reprise site?

Now that the Smiths DVD is out and OYE ESTEBAN (Morrissey's long-awaited DVD) is getting the finishing touches put on it for a September 5th release, Reprise is mulling over the idea of a BEST OF MORRISSEY CD. So if you're a real Moz fan, let us know what songs you'd like to see included on this package. In return, we'll send the first 50 respondants, a CD advance of Snake River Conspiracy's great version of "How Soon Is Now?"

Send your ideas, along with your name and a snail mail address, to [email protected]

  • I read a article in a Portland, Oregon circulation called," Arts and Entertainment", said something along the lines of Morrissey recycling his older hits for the O!E tour and that he was an aging crooner in his "fat Elvis" stage. Pissed me right off, but I laughed there stead.

  • I think the fans should be given the chance to vote for their favourite Morrissey song on this site or another site and the top 19 songs from the poll should go on the above 'best of' album and it should still be called 'Sing Your Life' even if that does not make the top 19. There is an exception. If a song in the top 19 has already appeared on any of Morrissey's previously released compilations it should not be included in the new 'best of' compilation and the next song in the 'best song poll' list should be considered to see if qualifies for the album '19' list. Also only studio recordings should be allowed on the album.
I think this is the fairest and best way to decide this new 'best of' album as it should definately not be just decided by the record company, Morrissey or a few fans.
It would best be promoted by releasing one of the 'final 19' as a single and the album should come with a free CD containing previously unreleased Morrissey or Smiths songs whether their just different versions of released songs or songs which have never been released before in any version OR possibly should come with some sort of free book or video/dvd,etc. It's extremely likely that it will just be the fans mainly buying this album but I still think it should be made and feel it's important that it should be.
A poll similiar to the above was conducted on Morrissey site 'It may all end tommorrow...' but I think a more recent and more accurate poll is required and this would be the best site to conduct such a poll and hopefully this will happen soon to get the ball rolling.
I don't think it would be required to release any further Morrissey compilations after this one or The Smiths for that matter (even though a Smiths' Best III could easily be squeezed in) unless these compilations are of unreleased material.
Here's to something new (which includes the prospect of the above album coming to light I hope sometime late 2001)

p.s. I think the current and future cd singles box sets should count as compilation albums too i.e. songs on these should also 'not' be in the 'final 19'.

What does anyone think of all of the above?
