i have a whole stack of books to read (smart books, not what you're reading) but im not reading them at the moment because im writing a novel. once im finished writing the first draft of my novel i intend to go back and read all of the books that have inspired my novel to see if i can find anything in them to add to make my novel even greater than it's already going to be. these books are:
The Faces - Tovi Ditlevsen
Solstice - Joyce Carol Oates
The Unbearable Lightness of Being - Milan Kundera
The Character of Rain - Amelie Nothomb
The Ice Palace - Tarjei Vesaas
House of Incest - Anais Nin
The Master and Margarita - Mikhail Bulgakov
The Immoralist - Andre Gide
The Days of Abandonment - Elena Ferrante
The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde
Pain: the fifth vital sign - Marni Jackson

because 'N' happens to be the starting letter of my novels title, but even on sale the N one is more expensive than the others (why is that?!). i might just buy the 'R' one instead because it's $80 cheaper (and i do feel the need for some olde-worldy type bling (i have decided that olde world is VERY 'me')).
if anyone knows any good books about artists or consumption or consumptive artists, please let me know!!!
