Trouble Loves Me

Death to Racists
anyone else notice the similarity of this song to You've Got a Friend in Me by Randy Newman (from Toy Story)?

I don't know "You've got a friend in Me". Do you mean musically and lyrically? Maybe coincidence or osmosis. So TLM followed Toy Story?

I loved Trouble Loves Me and I used to think it was my favourite of Morrissey's work. I'm not so sure now. I love his voice still and the line "on the flesh rampage - at your age!" is perhaps the best line in a song ever.

There was a great TV documentary on the BBC recently about Carole King. I always loved her songs especially the Tapestry LP. Obviously "You've got a Friend in Me" isn't a million miles from "You've Got a Friend". It's just a bit more explicit (in a non-sexual way) for the kids!

musically there are strong similarities and my guess was this was deliberate, like saying he's a got a friend in trouble. it's just a hunch.
