I always thought this was one of the weaker Smiths singles, and kind of a precursor of the lightweight singles that Morrissey would come to produce with regularity in his solo career. The lyrics are completely unbelievable and silly. An underachievement. Still, its catchiness and the lovely music raise it to a 7.

A good Smith's song, but nothing amazing. I actually like the lyrical content, seeing it as a ode to the kitchen-sink drama's that Morrissey took so much inspriation from, and there is a stinging ambiguity about the "No I don't want to see her!". Also, did anyone else find the "It's serious" ironic, seeing as how the song itself is otherwise light and airy compared to other song's by the band?

This gets a 7 from me.
