Should morrissey join a band?

I've been considering the fact that morrissey doesn't really play an instrument (not counting the tambourine) and that,
to the best of my knowledge, he doesn't write music. Do you think that it'd be wise for him to join up with a band as
their lead singer? Maybe if he was part of a larger group project he'd get more respect and perhaps a more avant-garde
sound? What do you think?

Re: He should join...

Morrissey should join REM. Aah, think of it...a Simon and Garfunkel for the new millenium.

He should team up with ian mcnabb from the icicle works or with the brilliant members of the well overlooked band thrashing doves. This would bring a new twist to mozzers music which he needs in my opinion to appeal to new fans.

He should do an album with you, George. Have you found his telephone number yet?

Island Mate Spice is an allure of hidden treasures. It's a flavorful exotic tea featuring mate, a botanical from South America rich in antioxidants, which offers you a delicious and healthy way to revitalize your body and spirit. They've added opulently sweet oranges and a generous trove of spices-cinnamon, ginger root, cloves, cardamom, and allspice. With each sip you will sail to faraway, secluded islands...if only for a moment.

yes

We had this discussion on the main board just the other week, and someone put it very nicely by saying that Morrissey has secretly been in a band for the last ten years, he just hasn't told anyone..... I think that's rather true. "The lads" are a vital part of his whole work. He has very skilled musicians on hand and two fantastic songwriters, plus they are a good live combination - what more would you get from an "official" band? Calling it that or not seems to make all the difference....

Morrissey with Tones On Tail. Imagine his rendition of Burning Skies...

i agree completely - and Morrissey and the lads seems much more "a band" on stage (they all look similar) than The Smiths.

Well put Mimi... Morrissey has had a few bands in his career. Three if you think about it...maybe four. I wouldn't trade the lads for anyone!

weellll.

It seems to work best when Morrisey really links up with a single artist who can play the music but doesn't mind not singing. or at least that much (and likes Morriseys style). It's such a tough call when you also consider Moz is beautifully non-mainstream which means less dough to the musician that works with him.

The REM idea is nice.

How about Kraftwerk! Lol!

"No Fun at all on the autobahn!!"

Not a band but....

Morrissey should hit the road as a back-up signer for Ani DiFranco. :)
