Sanctuary Records are bust!

oh f***

> As just announced on BBC Radio Six.
> Oh dear!

goodbye new album then.

I must stress that I got this information second hand, as I'm at work and wouldn't ,of course, be listening to the radio.
Let's hope there is still money in the kitty to promote the new album.
What the hell, we'll buy it anyway!

Lets all put a fiver in the hat for MOZ

Lets all put a fiver in the hat for Moz, he has given us soo much entertainment through the years and now his company has gone bust just before crimbo! (it would have been more but that tenner we all gave Joycey has left us short this month)

email me your details

P.S. first Rough Trade now Sanctuary - Moz is a bit of a Jonah!

Hi Reg.
I'm a bit worried now that I may have jumped the gun on this, as heavens forbid that I put up an incorrect or libellous post! On here?! But my friend definately said the word 'bust'.
And Robert Plant is with them too. Oh no, oh no!

Incorrect and libellous posts are the course de rigeur here!

They do seem to be on the verge if it hasn't already happend - $100 million in debt and valued at $12 million - maybe I shouldn't have Kazzaed YATQ! Now I feel kindof responsible!

You did what to YATQ? Sounds painful whatever it is!

Oh alright then! I'm all heart me.
But Moz will be taking the food out of the mouth of some starving puppy somewhere.
My funds are limited and I can't give to all!

Right! My friend dies!
And now I've been made to look like a right plonker. Again.
Thank you, and I promise not to spread vicious rumours anymore.

i think you were right. it does sound like a bankruptcy reorganization.

Re: Surely enough is set aside ...

for a metaphorically rainy day i.e. when Mozzer releases the album. I wouldn'tve thought he'd have gone ahead and recorded it, had the website pulled up to date and been blabbing about the new material, if the album was under threat ... a business always has to honour current obligations.
I wonder if the expenses of his trip to Rome caused diva like spending from the company coffers?
Moz, darling, you need to find a group of ppl who know how to do business love. But, until then, if ur stuck for a place to have your nut roast this Christmas, you can always come round to mine (that's an offer of dinner btw, not an explicit sexual practice ... unless we have too much sherry)

the new album is supposed to be out in March (with the first single out in february) with some sort of tour, and so far, all we've got is a small article in the NME with "Exclusive Tracklisting!", Julia's Q&A, and a couple of websites that read "MMVI"

i could be wrong, but i thought the promotion machine was in much bigger swing by this point before Quarry.

Re: Surely enough is set aside ...

I'm pretty positive Morrissey will have safeguards for this written into his contract. The fuss about Sanctuary's financial position blew up long before he re-signed with them.

He's been in the business 20 years and he's had record companies fall apart around him before.

Moz is taking food out of the mouths of starving puppies?

Now I'm glad I Kazza'd YATQ,! that mans a monster!

what kind of safe guards could those be?

the only one i can think of is that they'd give him the chance to buy back his album if they haven't released it after a certain amount of time. that would still be an uncertainty because he'd have to sign another deal with yet another company to release it (assuming Sanctuary isn't bought out by someone...but even that is questionable because they themselves could go through and say, "ok, we don't foresee this making any money" and chopping it and letting it rot in the vaults.)

he can't force a company that has no money to release his stuff, especially if they are in bankruptcy and a judge orders them to do otherwise.

but he lucked out last time because he had Maladjusted released months before Mercury went out of business.
