Morrissey dream lineup

Gregor Samsa

I straighten up, and my position is one of hope.
If you could choose from all the musicians Morrissey has ever worked with, what would the Morrissey band lineup of your dreams look like?
Mine:
Lead/rhythm guitar: Alain Whyte
Rhythm/lead guitar: John Maher of Whythenshawe
Bass: Gary Day
Drums: Spencer Cobrin
Keyboards and whatnot: Mikey Farrell

This way, we get a perfect mix of guitar pop and 50’s nostalgia, physicality and atmospherics. All the nutrients. Please make it happen, God.

I love Gary Day but there is no way in hell I'd take him over Andy Rourke.

Yes, good lineup! I also endorse no keyboards, keeps it more rock, less lounge.

Gary has that great look and he can work an upright bass like nobody’s business!

Lots of songs benefit from keyboards (Pigsty, TIALTNGO, Jesus, Trouble). They shall however be used wisely!

That's true, but the problem with having a keyboardist is that you end up "keyboarding" every song in the set list, and so many songs get smothered in an unwelcome wash of tinkles. For There Is a Light, I prefer the live versions without keyboards (the version from the Rank concert is the best), but there are indeed songs that require piano or keyboards for their proper expression. So I will add a sixth member to my line-up, to cover keyboards and other assorted other bases.

Keyboards, guitars, concertina, bodhrán, banshee wails, lead vocals on covers of Yoko Ono songs and the Spanish-language coda of Speedway: Kristeen Young

Gustavo (but this was a real toss-up between him and Mikey.)

I just saw Johnny playing in a stadium and he sounds amazing! Morrissey's voice is still one of a kind. It's just all such a shame that it's never, ever going to happen.
