Matrix #'s - Does "U" ever appear as "J"?

It seems that on many of my 12" test pressings or promos the "1U" portion of the matrix number looks more like a "1J". When you angle light off of them to really hit it, you only see a strong etch for a "J", but if you look super close, it's almost as if the curvature of the J continues to fully form the "U" as if it were meant to be done that way. There is an ever so slight curved line that continues the "U" but not enough to say it is created that way. Very subtle. Looking online there is no reference for a J (Panic and Sheila, for example) but the U is definitely standard.

This happens when the stamp doesn't get imprinted hard enough into the vinyl. Look at the right hand half of a 'U', it looks like a 'J'!

Similarly, the number '1' sometimes comes out as an apostrophe.
