I never knew you wrote such bloody awful poetry...

I know the following is mediocre crap, but I mean it sincerely and I actually was able to give it to Morrissey Monday night (he put it to his forehead and then in his pocket - I thought I would die). I have no idea if he ever read it or laughed at it or whatever, but I just wanted him to know how much his music, and he himself, means to me. So, yeah, it's saccharine slush, but it comes from the heart...and HE PUT IT IN HIS POCKET!
P.S. Thanks again to Carlos who gracefully flung me to the stage :).

I do see the lines
and I do see subtle changes
I see that time has come and settled in
but I love you still
and you will always be the same to me

the words sung
by your blessed tongue
keep you young
always, in my heart

nothing
not the long passing years
not the fading of your face from here
not my own maturing fears
will change how I feel

even though I know
Im just another unfamiliar face
shouting your name
(and you will never know or shout mine)
my heart is strong
and I love you still

you will always be the same to me

thank you

so basically you're saying that Moz is withering before your eyes yet you still love him anyway. I bet that made him feel great. personally I don't feel his age is the reason for his redundancy.

No, no, that's not what I'm saying or what I meant. I remember reading some review about him getting older and his music not being as sharp or as good as it used to be, as if his getting older were the main cause for it or something that was inevitable. I wanted to express that, despite seeing SUBTLE changes in him (yes, aging), I thought (and think) he is as talented as ever and nothing would change my feelings re: that - especially the cruel remarks of journalists/reviewers. It was not my intent to make any type of cruel remark myself. I understand your criticism - I told you it was crap myself.

Absolutely beautiful, Sarah. I think you speak for so many of us with your poem. I can't help but think "does he or will he ever know how much he means to us?". We'll probably never know, but it doesn't really matter.

I agree. Your poem is exactly how I feel. I'm sure Moz read it and loved it too. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Hey i really liked it. If you're a serious poet, that is pretty damn good. It's to the point, you did'nt try to hard to be witty or metaphorical. It's not Shelley or anything, but not all poetry has to be brilliant, it was simple and beautiful and honestly it touched me, i feel the same way and it speaks for us all methinks. Later!
