I must say, the story lines over the past few years have been dire which has really put me off The Street.
Last night's was farcical tbf. Yasmeen (who must be mid-60s at the very least) tries to escape the house from Geoff (bastard husband) and in her desperation ends up on the roof of the house! Yes, you heard correctly, the
roof of the house.
Geoff (nearer 70), with matching levels of agility goes after her...yes, onto the roof. So there's now 2 ppl on the roof, moving along the top ridge with so much ease it's almost as if they've done this thing many times before.
Seconds later, a third person arrives, on the roof no less, in the form of Alya, the granddaughter of Yasmeen. 5 mins previously however, Geoff had knocked her unconscious with a metal cash box to the head in Speed Dahl, leaving her lying on the floor of the restaurant & before making his escape. But Alya was able to make such a wonderful & quick recovery that she's now fully compos mentis, so much so that she can climb to the roof to join the other two members of the high-wire circus act.
It was so much better in the 70s & 80s with characters such as Stan & Hilda Ogden, Betty Turpin, Percy Sugden, Blanche, Phylis et al, where at least things were
believable.
