it hit me that the only offensive aspect of this business is that everyone's pretending it's about race. It's not, and race (and nation) is too important a matter to displace like this.
Has anyone pointed out that if he'd decried the erosion of English culture because of globalization, or worse, Americanization, he'd have been hailed as a national hero?
