Joan as Policewoman adores Morrissey!

She admitted it in a Belgian musicmagasine (called Humo - the one from the week 21th to 27th of July). Here's the bit:

Interviewer: What is, in your opinion, the best popsong ever made?
Joan: that's a terrible question, sweatheart. The first song that comes in mind is: 'hit me baby one more time...' Love that song. Really. But let's think of something more, say, profound. (thinks) I know! (sings) 'ask me ask me ask me...', from the Smiths. (sings again) ' Because if it's not love, then it's the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb that will bring us together'.
'Ask', beautiful title as well. Do you know I've never seen the Smiths or Morrissey live?! Did you?
Interviewer: Yes, recently in Amsterdam.
Joan: (screams) I never have! Goddammit! It must have been fantastic!
Interviewer: It was, although he could have played a bit longer...
Joan: Forever! Never stop, Morrissey!

I knew Joan had a good taste of music :) glad she's one of us!

It's been a busy few months at prettypettythieves.com! The site is being translated into Italian, with 5 articles up so far, and more is to come in Spanish, German, Dutch and French! Any volunteers to help with this are more than welcome, by the way. Even Welsh.

New stuff added includes:
A spoof Moz interview in the style of NME, the dvd commentary they forgot to put on "ROTT", The Quiff Gallery, the Sacha Distel theory, Lloyd Tripp: celebrity guitar tech, fan art of Moz, the story of The Smiths and Moz told through the medium of toy animals, a review of "El mundo no escuchara", Phill Gatenby on Smiffs tribute bands in Manchester, more Lookalikes & Posealikes, Emily Bronte & "Suffer Little Children", Oscar Wilde, more Bloody Awful Poetry ("Sandie, Are You Sure?"), info on The Polecats tour and record release later this year, more Gig Queuing Olympics...

Interviews with David from The Boyfriends about having Moz as his Lairy Godfather, puppeteer Nathan Evans, Phill Gatenby, novelist Joel Lane...

Reviews of: Red Lightning's "LA Crash Landing", the re-issue of Boz & The Bozmen's "Dress in Deadmen's Suits", Johnny Marr & The Healers "Boomslang", that pants film "My Life With Morrissey...

All served up with a healthy side order of affectionate irreverence.

The exchange of insults between Richard Madeley and Morrissey has been picked up by several reporters since, such as contactmusic.

In this Saturday’s (29 July) Irish Times newspaper, the incident triggered some extra insights for columnist Shane Hegarty, in a piece called “Blog and be Damned”. He states: “There was a quite delightful celebrity spat this week. One of those rare moments when two stars from either end of the firmament crossed paths and tussled until one tore the other a new black hole.”

Hegarty described what happened since the Oxford comment up to the TrueToYou broadcast. He goes one: “This was a jibe at Richard’s beloved Judy. The age gap between Richard and Judy wouldn’t be commented on so much if it didn’t seem to grow wider every year”..[another indirect taker of Moz’ side?!]… “Anyway, reading his web site posting, it occurred to me that with such wanton cruelty and intemperate whininess”.. [the obligatory knuckle-rap it seems in every Moz story]…, “Morrissey would make an ideal blogger. Certainly, he would make a better blogger than most of his fellow celebrities”.

Hegarty mentions some – MC Hammer, Moby, Thom Yorke, Alec Baldwin – and how their blogs disappoint. He makes an exception for an item about William Shatner’s passed kidney stone being auctioned for $25,000, concluding wryly: “Now that’s a look deep inside a celebrity”.

Which of course is nearly as bad as mentioning tampons… - roll on, round 2!
