From Jed Weitzman:

We are surprised to see that Ana Sanabia and the Benicassim Festival have seen fit to put their version of events up on their web site. We find this unprofessional and unhelpful.

Any of you who have read it should be aware that you are obviously hearing only one side of the story. It is clear that this is a reaction on their part to our official statement which we still stand by.

It is not our intention to get into details or into a minute by minute account of what happened. We have been advised against doing so because the events in question are the subject of an insurance claim and will almost certainly end up the subject of some kind of legal scrutiny or action.

One very important fact we can make absolutely and unequivocally clear is that Morrissey not playing at Benicassim had nothing whatsoever to do with money. Indeed, not playing there has cost him a very considerable sum. Morrissey has proved repeatedly over his long and illustrious career that his priorities are his music and his fans. He would never miss a concert unless he was absolutely unable to be there or unless it was impossible for him to perform for other insurmountable reasons.

Yours sincerely,

Jed Weitzman
