One last question : is “Steven Smith” really a sort of tribute to Morrissey?

“Can you believe that you’re the first person to ask me that ? I’ve read many reviews that have flat out stated that it is, but nobody has bothered to ask me. My answer in short is : yes. They were right.”

The Organ (re)released my favourite album of last year with "Grab that gun". The influence of Morrissey is prevelant in the passionate vocals and emotional lyrics, whilst the ghosts of Johnny Marr and The Cure permeate the guitars.

Steven Smith and two other album tracks can be heard here: http://www.myspace.com/theorgan

  • I only heard The Organ's album a few weeks ago, and it's definately worth recommending. As the post above mentions, it sounds like a mixture of the Smiths and the Cure, but with Debbie Harry singing the vocals - how great does that sound ?!?!? Anyone else heard the album?

  • Its one of the best albums I've purchased this year (apart from ROTT obviously) and I would highly recommend a listen. Lead singerssounds like a female Morrissey and borders on Martha and The Muffins, Blondie and Pat Benatar! Nice 80s vibe to it.
