John, England writes:
Morrissey ‘Irish Blood English Heart’ - Today FM (link) One of the finest songwriters of the past 20 years marks his return with a single of monstrous bravado. After a lot of label hopping, the former Smiths frontman has settled on Sanctuary Records, and this, the first track from his forthcoming ‘You Are The Quarry’ album, is as good as anything he’s ever put a pen to. Full of bite and spit as only you’d expect from the maestro, this is a song as big and bold as you’ll hear all year – “there is no-one on earth I’m afraid of/And no regime can buy or sell me” – and it slowly builds to a torrent of roaring guitars and thundering drums that grabs you and throws you around the room. Single of the year so far – brilliant.
