What's Everyone Reading At The Moment?

I think the last time I posted in this thread was when I was talking about reading keep the aspidistra flying which was pretty good imo except for the end which I think wrapped up everything g to neatly and to quickly. Made me think of money by Martin amid a lot. I think he mentions Orwell a lot in that book and both characters were kinda one step removed from there previous class position and taking the principals of said previous class with them causes them both all kinds of trouble with money.

now reading damage by Josephine hart. Found it at a library sales and was intrigued by the opening lines so much that I bought it

no responses yet? what a pity. i hoped the article on moral outrage would help certain people i dont know start thinking after all.

here is another highly interesting article on moral outrage.

Why there are costs to moral outrage

Soon something else will stoke people’s moral outrage. A look at any partisan news source or social media site will show people expressing maximum anger at all hours of the day.

What explains all of this outrage?

...

If you want to show people how much you care about being morally upright, outrage will often do the trick. Because strong emotional responses are correlated with moral convictions, people think they can display their moral commitment by showing that they are outraged.

In fact, the more outraged, the better. If you are the angriest, you must be especially good. As Berry and Sobieraj say, “Outrage trades in hyperbole
.”

offers an analysis of "moral grandstanding" as well.

I think she is the perfect example of someone who focuses on things from another perspective to try and deflect from what is really going on.
The fires in Australia and she chose to focus on animals dying but not why they were dying and who was responsible.

The Corona virus and she who just focused on animal rights and their suffering in Australia does not in any way dare to criticise a communist country where animals are not protected in any way and where the disease comes from infected animals.

Are animals always mans best friend?

Of course not!

A majority of animals will kill and eat humans if given the chance. They harbour serious disease in their mouths that will kill most humans within hours if not treated. Animals are not cuddly toys there to cure the wanting of a spinster who refused to have her own children out of hate for men in general.

Animals are not humans or children and they are natural hunters and killers who only feel free and ok when they can act out their natural urges. Maybe a human stopping herself from enjoying her natural urges means she has to control pets from doing the same in some twisted act of control?

We need to liberate animals from humans and humans from animals.

Greta Thunberg is helping Soros and socialism to deflect the fact that they have already fallen and that people of this world have finally realised that socialism did not work and that their personal freedom far outweighs the need for a collective good.

Personal development and opportunity builds welfare not from state run benefits but from personal success where people make their own money. The confidence in the individual is of benefit for any state and country out there.

Someone there might be afraid to kill their recently passed criminal uncle Akshit who now has a second

In Eskilstuna-Kuriren on April 6, 1960, it became clear that road safety was high on the agenda when urban planner architect Sven Tynelius presented his proposal to the building committee. The house bodies, consisting of three, seven and eleven-storey houses were grouped around park and play areas.

"One of the main ideas in the proposal is that the children should be able to move between the housing groups and to the youth center's youth center by utilizing the central park and thus avoiding any traffic street".

Construction was expected to begin next year and to further increase road safety, pedestrian and bicycle routes were planned to the nearby school and sports area. The 4,000 future Årby residents could also expect 1460 parking spaces.

What, then, meant the new district, located at the entrance of the then national highway 6 for traffic situation? The plan for Torshällavägen was detailed.

"In the future, Torshällavägen will need to be widened from 22 meters to at least 31 meters. A local street with a width of 10 meters is proposed north of Torshällavägen."

Otherwise, the whole thing was considered difficult and various solutions were discussed.

"In a first development, the need for space may be quite limited, but in the longer term one should expect a planar crossing of considerable dimensions. ".

Newspaper article from April 6 1960. 8 years later I was born and fortunate enough to have my own room. My dad apparently kept on telling the midwives that his son would have his very own room.

Not a ghetto then and in fact the envy of everyone in Eskilstuna and a great place to live until heavy immigration ruined it and turned it into a ghetto and today it is considered a no go-zone where the reporters from the same paper got attacked with stones when visiting the area a few years ago.

They will build more houses in the area in the coming years to make it more attractive again and here are some pics showing the changes.

For 37 years, Kenneth Lövgren, 61, kept the English club Shrewsbury Town close to his heart.

On Monday he passed away quickly.

Now he will be hailed by the fans at Anfield during the team's match against Liverpool.

- It's great fun that they think he made such a big impression that they do something nice. It helps a little bit during grieving, says Kenneth's son Erik.

Shrewsbury Town, who lives in the English Division 3, was Kenneth Lövgren from Bollebygd's favorite team for over half his life.

During the 37 years he followed the club he went there at least once a year and when the team in his heart last Sunday turned a sub-2 with 2 to 2 against Liverpool in an FA Cup match he was very happy.

The next day he passed away quickly, something that the Football Channel had previously written about.

Kenneth planned to go to the return meeting against Liverpool at their home arena Anfield, but now that it doesn't, Kenneth will be hailed by Shrewsbury's away team.

To be honored by the fans
The local newspaper Shropshire Star has reported that supporter associations are inviting their members to bring Swedish flags as a homage to Kenneth and they will also be honored with a thunderous applause in the 37th minute, as a symbol of his 37-year-long support.

Kenneth's son Erik is delighted that his dad is being noticed by Shrewsbury's supporters.

- It's great fun that they think he made such a big impression that they do something nice. It helps a little while grieving. Dad had been very proud, he says.

Was liked by the club's supporters
Erik says that his dad was very liked by the team's supporters.

- He got a wealth of friends there. I followed him twice and you noticed that he was very popular. It was scarce that he could check out the matches because there were so many who wanted to greet him, Erik says and continues:

- Then he met people in the pub before and after matches as well. Some of them have come over to Sweden to meet us.

The spark ignited - 37 years ago
During his lifetime, Kenneth became involved as a football coach for youngsters and it was only after his coaching training that he stuck to Shrewsbury.

- He used to train in England when he was younger and already he got sneezes about the city, but that was when he finished his trainer training and wanted to practice in any club that he heard from the football club.

- He applied to several clubs, all over the world, but Shrewsbury nipped and told him to hang with them. He was there for a week and they treated him so well that he fell for the team and the city. It was 37 years ago and on that road it was, says Erik.

Those apartment blocks look like where I grew up, but behind were wheat fields where we would hide and play soldiers with makeshift guns. Those fields are now gone, replaced with more apartments and a shopping centre. On the weekend we would take a bus and play in the castle ruins not far from the city centre. That was my playground.

Årby looks gloomy and depressing in that picture but had great football pitches not seen in that picture that were to the right and a nearby forest as well with great walking paths. The apartments were great and you never had to be cold in the winter there.

I think I remember my dad talking about the football tent being one of those things he and other local politicians voted for as he was a local politician back in the 70's and 80's.

I can still miss Årby despite the state it is in now but only because of the apartment itself. You don't really live in an area as much as you live in an apartment or so I told people who viewed the place as hell on earth.

I used to dream my days away in my boys room 5 storeys up overlooking the motorway in the distance and the forest behind it and watch people come and go and wonder what's the meaning to all these things people get up to in life.

No wonder Moz's lyrics became my bible.

I reckon motorway is not correct so I go for highway. As a kid I actually clocked the cars on the highway knowing the distance on the straight and used binoculars and a clock and then calculated the average time and which speed they were driving at.

I miss my watchtower!

It's very illuminati!

A friend of ours lived on the 10th floor and said that the day they paint the roof of the 7 storey houses black they will look like coffins and she will move.

She also threatened to throw a canadian woman down all the stairs from the 10th floor when her man working for Volvo in Canada admitted he had a mistress over there.

Maria was as tough as they come!

Instead he bought a magnum bottle of whiskey and put on some Johnny Cash. Her and him were more american than swedish like many people from up north.

They had a real human thumb that some in the family chopped off and threw it at me.
