Hey all
Its probably been asked before but does anyone know what other songs were recorded for Strangeways that didnt make the cut on the final album?
10 songs is far too small an amount to only record to make a selection from for an album.

I see there was also

Heavy Track {Instrumental}
I Keep Mine Hidden {2012 Lost Mix}

(Love this little gem selection by the way)

so does anyone know of anymore songs and where I may be able to obtain them?
Thanks

A Fool Such as I (Elvis cover) is totally unreleased and remains unleaked.

Sheila Take a Bow, as everyone knows, was released as a single prior to the release of Strangeways, but it was actually recorded at the outset of that LP's sessions. (Tracking began after work had been started on Girlfriend in a Coma.) An alternate early take of Sheila was leaked here by motorways and on Smithstorrents, and is collected on the Never Heard Symphonies compilation.

Heavy Track was a rough instrumental demo. Available on the NHS bootleg comp; originally leaked by motorways and Smithstorrents.

I Keep Mine Hidden and Work is a Four Letter Word (Cilla Black over) were b-sides recorded shortly after the LP; they are (technically) commercially available and are also in the NHS comp.

An alternate version of I Keep Mine Hidden is from the Complete boxset; it is on the NHS comp and was originally leaked by a member here.

Various demo tracks also are in circulation; for those and the above and other stuff see the Strangeways volume of the aforementioned bootleg rarities compilation Never Heard Symphonies:

Have you counted the tracks on The Smiths, Meat Is Murder, & The Queen Is Dead lately? :p

There were no more originals, as far as I know. Morrissey sang a take of an Elvis cover, (Now and Then There's) A Fool Such as I, but it was shelved and never surfaced. There is the notorious "Work is a Four Letter Word" B-side and that's about it

Grant Showbiz mentioned that there were bits and bobs of ideas for originals with different names, one being "You Don't Know Anything." But yes, no finished recordings.

From the post-Strangeways b-side sessions "You Don't Know Anything" has been mentioned as a Morrissey/Marr song attempted in some form - but it was probably an unfinished, very rough run through, and likely not recorded.
