Spectator USA: "Human after all" by John Waters (August 5, 2020)

You & Reel do post extremely racist things - that damage Morrissey's reputation with anyone who thinks it's representative of the fanbase or in line with his views.

Which it's not.

I'm not speaking for anyone other than me. If talking about real-life events is uncomfortable for people - so be it.

The majority of people just don't agree with you. Even immigrants think London is full and want stronger immigration controls. And yet more cross the Channel every day. There is nothing 'charming' about modern Britain. Somalian mothers are taking their sons back to Somalia to protect them from knife crime. That's modern Britain.

The majority do agree with me - not everything is perfect & you'll always find someone angry about an issue but that doesn't mean they buy into theories about race.

Old panics include devil dogs, road rage, satanic abuse... there's always something gripping the public imagination.

Read any history book or wade through the tortuous arguments made by the UK's founder & you'll see it has never been easy.

It's not uncomfortable - I just recognize the white nationalist propaganda. Bombarding the internet with crime stories to frighten & enrage people.

Those stories's should frighten people. They should become engaged with what's really happening out in the world.

It's deliberately warping your perspective to further a political agenda - sometimes the agenda is chaos, mostly it's white nationalist.

I'm glad you're not a white nationalist - but you're putting your rage in the wrong place.

You don't think Brexit was a referendum on open borders? Really? You're deluding yourself.
Your middle class contempt for the experience of Somalian immigrants is shocking. The knife crime epidemic is all just 'panic'? The social experiment of multiculturalism has been a massive failure. But the mainstream media will never admit it. You will never admit it.

Have you been watching the chaos? They aren't white nationalists.

It wasn't just about open borders - no.

If you believe in race theories then you're the one with contempt issues about Somalians.

Yes - when you excessively focus on a particular crime or type of criminal - it's a moral panic.

Pluralism isn't a 'social experiment' it's the product of political & economic change - mass production, war - etc etc.

There are plenty of debates about culture, resources, economics & mass immigration - but your overarching theory about races isn't getting traction because it's not sound.

I don't believe in race theories at all. Race is a social construct with no basis in biology. I believe that society and culture have meaning and that multiculturalism is based on the Thatcherite idea that there is no such thing as society and we're all just consumers. Across Europe the evidence that multiculturalism has been a terrible failure is overwhelming. It used to be a socialist idea to be against immigration. When did it become a tenet of socialism to be in favour of cheap labour and low wages?

The evidence isn't overwhelming - & how could it be worse than the fights Europe has had over borders, resources, religion, politics? How could it be worse than the Reformation, the French Revolution, the first world war, the second world war & the cold war?

Cultures don't spring up fully formed - they're pretty robust.

There are lifestyle changes to do with the free market economy & post-structuralism does make everything feel more unstable than it needs to be... plus civil rights claims have a tendency to annoy people esp if they feel their own needs are neglected - people violently hated feminism & look at the state it's in.

There's no need to panic about migrants or knife crime or think the roof is caving in because of visible difference - it's the same old. It'll be something else in 30 years time.

Moz actually loves all this confrontational stuff - but he seems to have seen some Islamic State beheading videos & had a wobble (which is, to be fair, exactly what those videos are designed to do).

Toots - it was Morrissey who didn't want a job & the already resident working-class who became unemployed when the UK shut down most of its industry.

Because it destroys the host culture. It's pretty obvious.
