Picked up these two at a charity shop for $0.50.

Never saw a "red" one before or the Vocalion label. Over 100 years old.
And the Victrola, "His Master's Voice", a one sided record (didn't know of such a thing), from 1916.

Never have seen colored vinyl from back in the day.
Wonder if that thing is some kinda test pressin'.

From Discogs:
"Note: The official color of the reddish-brown records is 'Red', as listed in catalogs during that time."

And not sure, but technically, I don't think they were considered to be vinyl. Some items from that era are listed as "shellac".
My item, catalog number 14285, isn't in Discogs, but the before and after are.

I just like that they have survived for over 100 years and haven't been smashed at a ball throwing carny sideshow stand.

Shellac makes sense, cause those records got a different feel to'em.
