Is everything still open? What about Starbucks?!

All cafes are open. We don't have a Starbucks in this godforsaken hellhole though, only in Stockholm.

“I used to be cruel to my woman
I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved
Man, I was mean but I'm changing my scene
And I'm doing the best that I can (ooh)”

‘Lennon admitted that he had done things in relationships in the past that he was not proud of.[11]

In a 1980 interview in Playboy with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Lennon, when asked about the song, said that the song's lyrics came personally from his own experience abusing women in relationships in the past. He states: "It is a diary form of writing. All that 'I used to be cruel to my woman / I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved' was me. I used to be cruel to my woman, and physically – any woman. I was a hitter. I couldn't express myself and I hit. I fought men and I hit women.

Unbelievably, back in the 60's wife beating/hitting, now referred to more often as domestic violence, was extremely common in the UK, particularly amongst the working class, although it wasn't confined solely to the working classes. It was a generational thing in that dark period. It was the same with physical abuse against children too.

"When you start hating the wealthy you're on the fast track to Marxism" is the quote of the month. I screenshotted it just in case Crackpots sobers up and deletes it.
Screenshotted isn't a word and if you'd care to intelligently explain how I'm wrong in regard to Marxism and the communistic disdain and contempt for the wealthy, I'd welcome a discussion. Of course, that prospect is contingent on you being capable of an actual debate that doesn't rely on the bits of personal information you've gleaned and horded about the other posters here who have bested you over the years.

I await your impotent fury. I've got nothing better to do. You've got the floor, c***. Use it to your advantage before I wipe it with your ass.

And Skinny, if you're around (which I'm sure you are) maybe you can be his tag team partner when he tires....because I will eat you alive.

We're back to "that's not a word" -- the last refuge of morrissey-solo's intellectually deficient.
Crackpots and 12" calling me stupid or in Crackpots case saying he'd wipe the floor with me is like a 10 year old saying he'll kick my ass. He can say it, and he might even believe it, but when push came to shove and he started swinging he'd see that what he believed didn't match up with the reality.

OK well then it shouldn't be a word, because it sounds f***ed.

I'm not interested in pulling each other's dick. You have some smarts to bolster your nonsense, or are you just going to keep yapping from the porch like a de-balled dachshund? Explain to me how I'm wrong about Marxism, or you forfeit. Put up or shut up, bitch.

You sound a little upset. Relax. You, like most people, will be fine. Also I don't need to f*** myself. Hot girlfriend, etc etc.

While I concur with the point @bhops was making that the longer we're shut down the higher the risk of despair and depravity, and while the Anonymous communist c*** that is obsessed with ice cream trucks has used toilet paper for a brain, and while I think that the media is ridiculously (albeit predictably) focused on scapegoating Trump for what's going on (lambasting him for calling what is literally a virus from China a "Chinese virus" is a f***ing joke) I do not think that returning to work by Easter is even remotely a good idea, whether he's doing it to boost morale or to concede to the corporations (probably both).

I don't think things will peak until maybe early May, and I don't think normalcy is even a slight option until maybe mid June.

We are in lock down in NZ. Only essential workers are allowed out of their house to go to work. Otherwise you can go to the supermarket for food, take a walk around the block and that is it. Not sure what the deal is in each state in America.

I believe as per my original statement that we will only be able to endure 6 weeks to 8 weeks MAX before the gasket blows and you will see a ton of social and economic issues on the other side. In the time ahead the Govt has to find modified ways for NZers to return to some type of work and social interaction or there won't be much of a country left.

Is Easter too soon in America? Probably, but is June too long? I'd say definitely.

Wow, that is shocking! ! About not having a Starbucks I mean! I thought yours was a pretty big city! :unsure:my city is a god forsaken hell hole too, bun bun. We're in this together <3

Oh shit, Canada is getting dangerously close to #Marxism. People getting handed money like that isn't liberating for them tho.
Hmmm, but what if everyone gets rich from this and there are no uniquely 'rich' people left to hate because everyone's got money now and #Marxism ceases to exist.

Maybe our societies would be dodging a bullet that way, because as we know hating the rich puts you on the fast track to #Marxism. So by embracing #Marxism temporarily and making everyone rich through non-liberating means, could Canada in fact be saving itself from #Marxism in the long run :unsure:?

"If the working classes don't get back to their wage slavery soon they'll beat their wives and drink themselves to death!" Is your ultimate goal to transform into a late 1800s factory owner, is that the kind of political rhetoric you find inspiring?

Using the USA as an example, if they can print $1.5 trillion to inject into the stock market then they can pay their population to stay home for the rest of the year. The rest of our countries can do the same thing. People can still beat their wives and drink themselves into an early grave even after working a 9-5 you know or did you think they were too exhausted to do that after a week's worth of emasculating work had drained the life from them? I see you don't question the effects that years of manual labour/office work etc. can have on people's mental state; it's them stepping away from that daily drudgery and being left to their own devices that elicits a harsh 'no' from you.

Aaron the ice cream van driver agreeing with you says it all. "If I had to work and scrape and toil for 20 years to make ends meet then everyone else should be forced to do the same thing, forever. No shortcuts!" Good for you that you guys have learned to love, or at least respect, your slavery over the years but don't expect the rest of us to follow suit.

For the last time, Sweden is the furthest country from "free" that I can think of. Sweden has no reason to shut its borders because you're all just economic units and if 100,000 of you die your government will simply import more Africans and Arabs to replace you. Meanwhile you can prance around bars as if nothing serious is going on in the world while convincing yourself that you're 'free'. You give a new definition to Stockholm Syndrome. "Who gives a f*** how many people die as long as I can still go out and get plastered, am I right guys? *Twerks while sticking tongue out* ughughughughugh YOLO ughuggughugh"

The idea that we as a society are close to any of the type of hardships that the working class (which was the vast majority of Americans) in the 1800's is absurd. The 1800's, the 1700's even the early 1900's, was a type of hardship that is far removed from what the working class endured today it's laughable. Now I want to be crystal clear, I'm not saying we shouldn't try and fix the issues we have around our economies today but your hyperbolic comparison to working conditions in the 1800's is nonsense.

When did I say that domestic violence doesn't occur an economy is functioning well? Please point me to that part of my post. When the govt/police announced our lock down here they specifically cited fears around a rise in domestic violence with people cooped up in small inadequate housing for a long period of time. To think that it would't have an effect is.........................interesting.

And lastly, the socialists favourite hot economic take. 'Muh why don't we just print some more monies!' How much money would you have to print to pay for a whole country to take a year off work? Ever heard of hyper inflation? You'd have to take a wheelbarrow full of cash to the shops just to buy a sandwich. The Fed has already fired it's last bullet with its interest rate cuts, now you want to pour gasoline on that bonfire by printing a ton of funny money. Shrewd.

The maddening thing is that's more money than I make by working. I'm getting screwed big time. Can someone lay me off pleaaaaasssse? !?!

OK but

I'm just outside of Chicago and it's similar here.
You feel like people could cope on lock down for another 2-3 months? I feel like it's gonna be harder than many think.

Stock markets rally after Federal Reserve starts printing money
"Dow Jones has best day since 1933, with Asian and European markets also up, after US move
Global stock markets staged a strong rally on Tuesday as investors were buoyed by the Federal Reserve’s efforts to boost the US economy and the prospect of Congress backing a fiscal stimulus package.
The Dow Jones recorded its best day since 1933 as it gained 11.4%, or 2,113 points, while the FTSE 100 posted its highest ever gain, of 452 points, as it rose 9% to 5,446.
The rally on US and European markets followed gains in Asia overnight in the wake of the US central bank’s move on Monday to launch an unlimited money-printing programme."

Oh no, don't they realize that this means #hyperinflation is right around the corner? Well, I suppose it would only result in #hyperinflation if they were giving the money to working families; as long as the money is only going to rich people and has a positive effect on the stock market it should be okay. Nothing frightens bhops more than poor people receiving money. "YOU CAN'T JUST PRINT MONEY (unless it's being injected into the economy), IF THEY WOULD STOP BEATING THEIR WIVES LONG ENOUGH TO PULL THEMSELVES UP BY THEIR BOOTSTRAPS THEN THEY WOULDN'T NEED TO BE GIVEN ANY MONEY!"

Point me to the part of my post where I said "you approve of corporate bailouts". Arguing with you is such an unusual thing because it always ends (and begins) with you asking me to point to things in your posts that you imagine I'm accusing you of, when usually it's just that you've misinterpreted my post and read something into it that wasn't there. If it happened once I could write it off as a mistake but this is far from the first time.

It will be hard but I can either cry and whine like a woman because OMG this is like so annoying I just wanna SHOP AND HAVE THINGS HOW I WANT THEM or I can make the best of it and stay calm and try to provide stability and reliability for those around me who are scared or less secure.

Not really a hard choice.

Dave is that you in anon mode? I feel like we're moving into #davesplaining territory? :ROFLMAO:

Well let me explain further. I don't believe it's possible to just print money endlessly do the entire population can take the year off. Leads to hyperinflation. Even QE has it's limits and leads to very sluggish economic recovery. AND I don't approve of corporate bailouts/stock market pumps either. The pork barrel policies from both sides with this stimulus package is disgusting. Clear enough for you punchy?

I wasn't really asking for you personally, more how you see your community as a whole coping. There is already a large contingent of people suffering mental illness and prone to anxiety and panic. I really don't know how long you can contain society as a whole before the thread starts to loosen and fray.
