Dear Morrissey (oh! how I hope you read this)

When you next come to tour in Britain (or anywhere else for that matter) you really should choose 'Colvin Quarmby' to open for you. Gerry Colvin is a wonderful performer - with the style of a young Elvis and the excitement of a Morrissey fan who has just clambered on stage with you. The songs they write are moving, witty, sharp and political and some tunes have a Mexican sound too (South American Dream).

Do you remember on Radio 1's 'Round Table' in, I think, 1985 you said of the single 'Clothes Shop' by Terry & Gerry (Gerry Colvin's earlier band), "I quite like that - don't know why"

I went to see them on Saturday and I was bowled over by the energy of the performance. There are few bands as engaging and genuine as this.

Yours sincerely

Ah, nice to meet you Hazard. No, they didn't get very far, but they played some slots on the telly (Old Grey Whistle Test? Oxford Road Show?), and they toured USA, and did three sessions for John Peel. According to the blurb they reached number one in the indie charts with one of their singles at the time when The Smiths were doing just the same. However I think they bust up when they should have got stronger - hey, but that's relationships for you. Do you have any Terry and Gerry records?

Can I tell you something?

You really should check out Qwest. I'll bet you'd save a lot of money on your long distance bill if you used them for your carrier. They really are cheaper!
