Morrissey`s best songwriter

Who will you champion as Morrissey`s best songwriter-partner as a solo artist?

Stephen Street?
Kevin Armstrong?
Vini Reilly?
Mark Nevin?
Clive Langer?
Alain Whyte?
Spencer Cobrin?
Boz Boorer?
Gary Day?
Jesse Tobias?
Michael Farrell?

I hold Street and Whyte high above the rest!!

Boz, Street and Whyte! By the way I find Whyte incredibly sexy! :D

Here are the results from the huge poll we carried out last year. The figures represent the average for each composers song (marked out of 10). Marr's figure included which shows just how much better his average composition was than all the others. Also, interesting to see Boz's score almost up there with Whyte's...

Best composers:

1) Morrissey/Marr, average score: 8,74 (68 songs)
2) Morrissey/Armstrong, average score: 8,17 (2 songs)
3) Morrissey/Street, average score: 8,03 (26 songs)
4) Morrissey/Boorer, average score: 7,94 (22 songs)
5) Morrissey/Whyte, average score: 7,69 (62 songs)
6) Morrissey/Nevin, average score: 7,66 (15 songs)
7) Morrissey/Langer, average score: 7,54 (3 songs)
8) Morrissey/Cobrin, average score: 7,53 (3 songs)
9) Morrissey/Tobias, average score: 7,52 (8 songs)
10) Morrissey/Whyte/Day, average score: 7,42 (3 songs)
11) Morrissey/Rourke, average score: 7,23 (3 songs)
12) Morrissey/Boorer/Day, average score: 6,35 (2 songs)
13) Morrissey/Farrell, average score: 6,17 (2 songs)

Thanks!

I should have guessed that the topic had been discussed before!

You`ll have to excuse me for bringing up old subjects. I`m new in this forum.

No worries. It's always interesting revisiting these things.
For example, I've just realised that when the new album comes out, Alain Whyte will have co-written more Morrissey songs than Johnny Marr!

How can Street and Armstrong come in front of the mighty Alain Whyte?!

Street wrote some decent enough songs but they were very basic in arrangement and anyhow, didn't Vini Reilly claim to have written them?! As for Armstrong, I really couldn't tell you anything about him or even name one of his songs.....

because the likes of Suedehead, Everyday, Hairdresser, and Last of the Famous where 7 zillion times better than Dagenham Dave, Roys Keen, Lazy Dykes and Work of Art.
OK, so I've chosen Street's best and Alain's worst compositions. I like a lot of Alain's stuff but in terms of average song quality, I think Street's are considerably better...

I think that Alain Whyte was the best possible companion for moz after Johnny Marr. Stephen Street? Ok, fair enough - Viva Hate was great. But Alain must be the final winner :)

stephen street.

Alain.
