First off: don´t expect to much of this cd due to a terrible thin and weak production. The songs totally loses the power and magic and the wellknown one-liners are almost all left out... If you can´t by both, put the money on the DVD instead. If not just for the version of "There is a light.." performed at M.E.N. Arena May the 22nd last year.

So here we go song by song...

1. HOW SOON IS NOW?
No pre-concert crowdroar or concertintroduction, we just bump right into the guitars. The way the bassguitar is mixed in tyhe first evrse just devastates the whole atmosphere. Moz voice is on top though. +++

2. FIRST OF THE GANG TO DIE
The sample is low mixed, but who really cares when the man is singing better than ever? Jesses guitar seem at bit untight at a ceratin stage, but that´s live ain´t it? ++++

3. NOVEMBER SPAWNED A MONSTER
If you listen carefully and really lod in your headphones you can hear something that might be congas in the very backlawyer of the mix. Otherwise this song never been so alive so before, much due to the way Jesse plays it compared to Alain aswell as the gods own voice is superb still at this stage. ++++

4. DON´T MAKE FUN OF DADDYS VOICE
The highlight of this cd. Finally a reasonable balance of the sound, you can actually here all instruments at a decent level (is it so hard to master all channels on the cd at the same level throughout all songs?). Powerful and mighty. +++++

5. BIGMOUTH STRIKES AGAIN
The biggest disappointment of this live cd. Morrisseys voice sounds old and tired the production is scandalously weak. This is NOT a way to treat an alltime favourite cklassic masterpiece. +

6. I LIKE YOU
Sounds pretty much as expected. Suddenly the production is back at the good stage again. Still Moz voice is abit tired but he doesn´t sound as old as on Bigmouth... +++

7. REDONDO BEACH
The opening chords is a joke. Can someone just kill the mixing manager?? Once again you can hear something in the very back that might be congas. The way he sings this Patti classic i fantastic though and saves the last slight of any atmosphere that was there from the start. With a stronger production this could have been one of the strongest moments in the mans career ever. +++

8. LET ME KISS YOU
Once again his masters voice saves the song by the bell. The guitarsound is terrible, the trumpet is mixed just to loud. ++

9. SUBWAY TRAIN/MUNICH AIR DISASTER 1958
Where is the power of the opening chords?? Subway Train is totally lost. Not even yet another fantastic singingperformance can save this piece. Ofcourse it goes on into Munich.Ruined by the sound engineers! ++

10. THERE IS A LIGHT THAT NEVER GOES OUT
Ruined by Moz himself the way he sings it just don´t make sense. We all know he can do especially THIS ONE! alot better. Well the single will probably go number one in Sweden, Malta and the U.K. anyway and by the end of the summer we will see Moz singing this on the Swedish telly programme "Allsång på Skansen" and find out it´s included on "Hitz for kidz 14"... ++

11. THE MORE YOU IGNORE ME THE CLOSER I GET
Aswell ruined by it´s weak production. ++

12. FRIDAY MOURNING
Beautiful introduction with a powerful and mighty piano with Moz singing with a very sensitivity in his voice. As soon as drums comes in the sound engineer to tuin everything again ad puts the guitars in the far back and keep on loosing more power on the pianofreqvency for every second there is. The way Moz sings this is just aweful. +++

13. I HAVE FORGIVEN JESUS
"I know it isn´t mutual, but I have forgiven Jesus". Eventually another decent wall of sound, except for the livetechnicians failure on the reverb on the chorus (cutting it too short in the end which makes it sound weird, strange and wrong). Fantastic performance by the entire band. In the second chorus Moz almost sounds like he´s crying like a little boy. Fantastic. By Friday this song has killed me... ++++

14.THE WORLD IS FULL OF CRASHING BORES
A bit stressful performed and the man sings the pre-chorus a bit hasty. Once again the production is back at the worser stage. You can hardly pick out a single tone from instrument to another aswell as the voice is to high mixed compared to the rest. +++

15. SHOPLIFTERS OF THE WORLD UNITE
This songs only weakness is the sound and I won´t nevermind... That soundengineer really devastates the moments. You can hardly hear one of the guitars, the drumkit sounds like the one they sell with "My little pony stickers" and the bass amp is probably placed at another evnue... ++

16. IRISH BLOOD, ENGLISH HEART
Finally you can hear a few of them 17.183 persons that were supposed to be there clapping their hands and actually singalong a bit (were the crowd really that quiet that night or did they get turned down by that fantastic soundfella???). Production ruined, song loses atmosphere blablabla... ++

17. YOU KNOW I COULDN´T LAST
8 minutes of kicking the medias ass. Due to a fabulous weak production at the start where you can find the acoustic guitar if you listen to it with headphones with a inbuilt hearingmicroscope (?). Stringsamples in the chorus sonds like a barking dog VOFFVOFFVOFFVOFFVOFF... How could anyone do this to a live album by Morrissey???? Only the voals and the piano are at a decent level. VOFFVOFFVOFFVOFFVOFF ++

18. LAST NIGHT I DREAMT THAT SOMEBODY LOVED ME
It´ s time to feel really sorry for Master Morrissey. This one must be about the bloody sound engineers and producers that tottaly f***ed the live album of the world up. No one can love those people anymore (the promo copy of the cd doesn´t list any names or info on the production team). And no we won´t forget you either. If someone just tuned the piano before. Still album of the year. ++++

And NO! I have not overanalyzed it, just had it since wednesday...

Thanks for the review. How did you get it?

Thanks very much for the review, DaKe. Your grammar is terrible, though.

The review: Those who can't, criticize. Do you pick apart photographs and magazine layouts this way? Sad. Go where the music takes you and free yourself.

It´s a live album and it needs it´s performance and production to let you free...
