Saw this tribute programme last night on BBC Knowledge, it's probebly been shown before, but I hadn't seen it. Thought it was a really good effort they'd put together with tributes from the usual suspects Billy Bragg, Johnny Marr (get yer hair cut lad), Bono, Jools Hollond, Steve Lillywhite, oh and ex Ruts drummer Dave Ruffy looking well. Also had some singers covering a few of Kirsty's songs, such as the lovely Cerrys (sp) Matthews of Catatonia.

It's about a year on now ain't it, RIP. A wonderful voice and great songwriter, I haven't got that Tropical Brainstorm album yet, like what I've heard of it.

Haven't seen that..... but I love her voice. A truly gifted songwriter who never got the acclaim she deserved.

And yes, it must be a year now.

p.s. Tropical Brainstorm is superb.

A one hour tribute programme was shown this time last year. Last nights show had an hour of extra footage.

Kirsty MacColl- fantastic, did you see Fairytale of NY last night

I watched her last night on Top of the Pops 2 performing certainly the best and probably only decent Christmas song ever released, with Shane McGowan in 1992.

Fantastic singer and, to quote Morrissey- a fantastic bosom as well.

I heard recently that Shane was back performing with the Pogues. Seeing what he looked like almost ten years ago I'm surprised he's still with us. Who'd have thought he'd outlive his singing partner.

He said

she had a great pair of wobbly t.itties but that she should try to avoid swimming in speedboat infested waters with them as she'd be unable to manouevre very well from the path of oncoming boats.

or something like that

Morrissey is also quoted in the liner notes to the new MacColl compilaton,
THE ONE AND ONLY. Although it's the same quote from GALORE.

Good comp. Has some of her older singles and odds and ends. I espcielly like the song about her dating an 80 year old millionaire. Also includes
a song by her father.

I went Xmas shopping and ended up just buying stuff for myself. I feel so guilty.
