Baby P

i can't recall i more a more sickening and heartbreaking tragedy to emerge in my lifetime. the very image of his poor little face is giving me sleepless nights. i can't imagine what this little guy went through at the hands of these animals. when it was on the news last week i had to go out so the wife wouldn't see me crying:tears:

In every war things like this happen to lots and lots of children. I'm not trying to say it's sad really horrible and sad, because obviously it is, but you need some perspective in your first sentence.

I know someone who works for Haringey social services, and going to school in Haringey I know lots of people who've had to deal with them and have said they are complete shit.

i don't need any perspective in any of it, thats toning it down. as for wars etc etc, i know exactly what has and does go on...first hand.

A toddler, killed a year and a bit ago, who was subjected to abuse his entire life; the local council have been greatly critised for not taking him into care. That's it, briefly.

Thank you. That happens here too. It is sickening.

They're going to make us google it, aren't they NRitH?

I'm conscientiously objecting.

Oh. :( What does that have to do with MB's war comments?

I was in the supermarket with my little girl yesterday and saw a guy with his toddler in a pushchair. He shouted at the little lad "if you kick your legs out one more time I'm gonna f**king cut 'em off" and smacked him...bastard man...

I'm just saying that every war that has happened/is happening is just as great, if not a greater, tragedy than this, as this kind of thing happens to thousands of children. That is not toning it down.

See above.

over 60 visits from socail workers, numerous hospital trips, when a so called doctor failed to spot a broken back:confused::confused::confused: police involved umpteen times, yet still the poor little boy was left to suffer. no f***ing murder charge either:mad: only being concerned in the death of a child/ allowing the death of a child. however if in a gangland killing for example, if 4 assailants are present and only 1 pulled the trigger, all 4 can be found guilty of murder. so what the f*** is going on?:tears::mad:

That it's not an isolated case and that children are killed daily.

 Urgh what a vile creature.
When I see things like that I try not to say anything incase it just aggrovates them more and they're likely to take it out on the child. :o Also they're likely to say "what do you know?" and disregard anything I say. I tend to just glare at the scummy parent and smile sympathetically at the poor child. :(

Each year, more people are killed in car crashes in America than have died in Iraq & Afghanistan (soldiers & civilians alike). Is that a greater or lesser tragedy than the war? Or even than this Baby P?

I politely asked him to tone down his language in front of my child and glared at him...he just glared back dismissively.

What worried me though is that if he treats his child like that in public you can't help but wonder what goes on behind closed doors. :(

That's awful, but we've probably all seen similar things happen. When I was 9 or so, my babysitter's husband came home early from work, got angry at their son (who was a year or two older than me), and literally picked him up and threw him across the dining room table. His son crashed into a china cabinet on the other side, and lay in a heap for a while. I grabbed my brothers and waited with them outside until our mom picked us up. We never went back there again.

(This son had lots of problems, understandably. He used to show me where his older sisters kept their birth control pills hidden, and he would pop some in his mouth and laugh. He also used to show me his dad's pistol and bullets, and extensive porn collection. I thought he was pretty cool until that day his dad came home early.)
