Audio file splitting

Howdo all. I got one of those Vinyl-to-Mp3 converters, and it's a hoot. Problem is, if you want to do one side of an album, you end up with one huge MP3. Is there any software out there (preferably freeware) that will take a large MP3 and split it up into smaller Mp3s, to be renamed as the individual tracks. Sorry if i'm being a bit dense on this, I'm relatively new to all this.

Thanks in advance,

Peter

I use a program called Cool Edit 2000. It has been superceded by an Adobe product, I think. It can be used for recording, editing, just about everything audio - fade ins, fade outs, splices, cuts, copies, etc etc.

It wasn't free, but maybe do a search on "Cool Edit" and you may find similar programs.

Hope that helps you.

Not sure if this is quite what you need, it might be.

I use a great free audio thingy called Audacity.
A search should find the latest version.

Good luck.
