Please don't move this thread, I am not the seller, I'm just making an observation and just wanted to hear what other collectors think.
Is it just me, or is this a really lame promo:
The Smiths Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want 1 Trk Promo CD Morrissey - eBay UK
"Hummmm, we need to...
It is supposed to be manipulative, it's an advert for a store, all adverts are manipulative. The trick is not to fall for it. Anyway must dash I'm off to do my Christmas shopping at John Lewis :thumb:
When I am ever asked to create a 'best of' for potential new Smiths fans, I always start with The Queen is Dead and end with 'Please, Please, Please', so it saddens me that this poor version has ever seen the light of day :( I said previously that this record might help create new fans but...
Re: The Smiths allowed their music to be used in an ad in the 1980s, so this is not n
Hi Bluebirds, I had actually forgotten about that piece of poo. I'm glad it didn't get to number 1.
Re: The Smiths allowed their music to be used in an ad in the 1980s, so this is not n
On a crappy local Oxford radio station today they played the full version of Please, Please, Please from the John Lewis advert. Does this mean it is going to be released as a Christmas single? Wouldn't it be...
Yeah, I agree, I would love to owe it (assuming it is genuine), But $650 is a lot of money. The wife would kill me for even thinking about buying it :p
Hi I.R.
I think you might have done the seller a favour by high-lighting it on this forum. Personally I only search the 'Music' section on ebay for stuff to buy.
Re: The Smiths allowed their music to be used in an ad in the 1980s, so this is not n
I saw the advert for the first time last night and I liked it. It will open more peoples eye's to the wonders of The Smiths. Plus John Lewis is my favourite store (after Ann Summers obviously)
Personally I have never thought of Morrissey as being a racist. He appears to me to be simply proud of this country. Unfortunately for some strange reason in England if you openly show support for this country, you are seen as a right wing thug.
Hi Skylarker,
Trust me mate, if there is one thing that I def. won't be doing and that is putting the cassette in some cheap and nasty tape player :squiffy:
I'll ask around and see if anyone has a quality tape player I can borrow that won't chew up the tape.
I like your theory on why the track lengths may be different than those listed on PJLM, I wouldn't be surprised if you are correct.
Unfortunately I shall not be uploading it anytime soon and it's not because I am some sort of elitist knob who likes to hoard 'rare' recordings. I simply don't...
Hi Skylarker,
For your interest, I have a Sire/Reprise in-house cassette labelled Morrissey - "Tomorrow" Steve Peck Remixes. It contains 3 different versions of the song:
1, Single mix (4:02)
2. Single mix w/louder vocal (4:22)
3. Instumental mix (4:22)
Note the song lengths don't...
I would have thought their 'People who Grinned Themselves to Death' was more apt:
"People who grinned themselves to death,
Smiled so much, they failed to take a breathe.
And even when their kids were starving
They all thought the Queen was charming"
A brilliant band very...
I thought I read that there was 800 copies for the UK and a further 700 for international release, but I may be wrong. I agree that people shouldn't be allowed to buy copies just to sale them on ebay for a fast buck, I don't know why people don't just wait a couple of weeks until all the fuss...
I sent an e-mail to the nearest shop to me asking if they would keep a copy back for me and got no response  So I caught a bus over to see whether they had any in or not only to be told they had already sold out and this was about 11:30.
Hoped
fully some will appear on ebay over the...
