I know he sings the song itself, but to my knowledge he has never, ever sung the ending coda of the song, as heard on record, at any live solo or Smiths show.
I mean when he sings "there is a light and it never goes out" at the end of the song. He doesn't ever sing this live.
I have bothered, and no, he never does sing it. Only on the recorded version, and the demo.
One small thing that I don't like is that he is singing the coda of There Is A Light, which Morrissey never did any of the times they played it live. It's a little odd.
Re: Does anybody know what the 'nonsense' off the original records Marr was referring
There's a lot of issues with the original production. However it is what it is, I think all told the RT releases may have been the best. The consensus I'm getting from people is that these releases sound...
Morrissey has been singing the Smiths songs for decades with sub-par arrangements that pale in comparison to live versions with Johnny. For much of that time Johnny has chosen to do his own thing, and has gone the other way... moved away from his Smiths' days. If now he wants to play more...
Yeah, those were some of the ones I was thinking of as well. I also remember him mentioning "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me" as his favorite one time.
Not that I doubt it, but when did he say that? He has named different favorites over the years, I'm sure.
Which is beside the point, I'm sure he could nail most Smiths tunes without missing a beat!
I uploaded Bigmouth and William. I hope they will have some of the full outtakes of him playing and put them on their website as a feature, like they have done in the past.
It's called 'When Rock Goes Acoustic' and will air on BBC4 this friday. He's going to play 'Unhappy Birthday'.
I hope someone can record it and upload the portion with Johnny in it!

Hmmm, on further inspection, this is the same size as the previously posted one. Does anyone have one in a higher res than this? I would like to get a good zoomed view of Johnny's rack units!:guitar:
Obama is absolutely horrible. So many people I know have been hoodwinked and are in total awe of him. More soldiers have died in Afghanistan under Obama than under Bush!! But the protesters are quiet as lambs. I hope he gets unceremoniously tossed from office.
Mike is one of the all time greats. I don't see anything wrong with his comments... I mean Morrissey is beloved by most(me included) for his razor wit and sometimes scathing assessments of topics/people. No one here thinks that MozBand is playing the Smiths to any remote level of proficiency...
