Re: Does your knowledge of an artists politics affect your appreciation of thier musi
Ok, I'll drop this now. I don't have any serious problem with you. We'll agree to disagree agreeably on the veggie issue. Remember that Moz has indicated he sees no difference between humans being killed en...
Re: Does your knowledge of an artists politics affect your appreciation of thier musi
He’s justifiably selective with humanity. For example, he has no truck with people who choose to accept that its fine to breed, rear and kill animals for various reasons – usually profit motivated and...
Re: Does your knowledge of an artists politics affect your appreciation of thier musi
Morrissey has been nothing other than consistent with regard to his animal rights stance. Indeed, it is probably his most enduring and cherished ethical cause.
We are separated from animal kind by our...

Or he could just genuinely have compassion for other sentient beings (not 'lower life forms') and feel motivated by their plight. Many do who don't share the profile you sketch out above. Me for example. By...
Ok, these remasters are fantastic. I've listened and compared all day and they really are head and shoulders above other versions on CD including the RT versions. The dynamic balance between high and low end is far more natural and less forced. These are the bee's knees (and so am I).
I wouldn't have thought Armitage was quite the opportunist you paint there (ie: wanting to elevate himself) I just think he is a pure devoted fan and as such has to pay the price. As you rightly say - Morrissey HATES 'that'!

On aroma and clothes
Fabric and dyes
Christian Dior

On the backstreets of Lyon or Marseille
Reckless and legless and stoned

I have never found a Morrissey song to be 'completely unplayable'. I believe that there is merit in everything he has put out. And I don't agree that music is simply 'entertainment'. That is far too reductionist. For me Morrissey converses with listeners in the way the great romantic poets do...
Some music is just audible abuse. Why are the perpetrators allowed to walk free? Worse than that - some are given 'industry awards'! And they wonder why there are riots.
Mark E Smith dons a pair of waxed wings and takes flight every so often - when he's maybe feeling a bit bored and the mood takes him - and he makes a bee line straight for the Sun. Mostly his wings melt away and he crashes back down into a Manchester reservoir to try again next time. But...
I like the narrow musical furrow Moz ploughs. I wouldn't want him to change. Within that narrow furrow there is much variation in nuance.
Lets face it, no one listens to Morrissey for musical originality or cutting edge boundary pushing. And I suspect that ironically there lies the key to...
Starkey's points about young people bizarrely adopting an alien culture are worthy of discussion, though quite what you do about that I'm not sure. His other points, particularly the one about David Lammy sounding 'white', beggars belief.
Also on reflection I do not think it's particularly...
