Indeed.
The funny thing is he's now looking a lot better than Robert Smith and Paul Weller who are around his age. Back in the 1990s when they were all in their 30s, he probably looked the oldest. His hair is mysteriously a lot thicker and fuller than it was in his mid to late 30s!
What's the feeling about the two new musicians?
Are they enjoying themselves on stage?
Even though Morrissey liked to make out (a little unconvincingly!) that he was one of the lads, I think having women in the band could turn out to be a really positive move.
Be great if they end up...
I've dished out these figures so many times before it just gets tedious. But here goes.
He was touring to 60,000 in the UK before the For Britain nonsense. The live fanbase is now 20,000 max.
Low in High School - critically, probably his worst ever album sold 25,000 in week 1.
Dog on a Chain...
He did indeed but it was very much flirting.
The line 'England for the English', for example, was in quotation marks as he was keen to point out.
Still, a lot of people felt pretty queasy about some of the stuff he'd said but it was usually sufficiently ambiguous for him to be given the benefit...
It's not that they disagree with 'some things he says'. It's that a huge chunk of the fanbase hated right wing politics, and they were drawn to the Smiths (and to him) partly because it was a group who represented the way they feel about a range of things including politics.
For the leader of...
Margaret on the Guillotine was very blatantly anti-Thatcher and her brand of right wing politics. The aesthetic of The Smiths and Morrissey was always very clearly anti-right wing. That's why his recent championing of right-wing politics has had such a devastating impact on his commercial...
In all fairness, Jesse wrote the music to nearly all the really great songs on the last album. Hurling Days has some of the best music Morrissey's ever sung along to.
Oh no. The return of Alain was one of the only bits of good news we've had in the whole Morrissey world in recent times. Please don't let this be more than a temporary departure (although I fear the worst).
Good work Flibberty. People who complain that he doesn't vary the setlist enough clearly don't go to see concerts by other acts very often. It's not unusual for groups to bang out almost identical setlists throughout entire tours, or to just have one or two songs that get switched around.
