    1 Year Ago Today...and Tomorrow

    One of the most euphoric experiences in my life too, PT. No recording, sorry. What I do remember is that it was a good attempt, the crowd cheered, and that Rock Steady cover defence was *solid*.

    Greatest Morrissey-Solo song of all so far?

    Mine changes month to month, but at some point each of these would have topped my list: Life Is A Pigsty, Every Day Is Like Sunday, The Boy Racer, Christian Dior, November Spawned A Monster, The Last Of The Famous International Playboys, Lifeguard Sleeping, Girl Drowning, Come Back to Camden...

    Morrissey - 2008 - Greatest Hits - By the Numbers

    If this is of vague interest to anyone, here are the last.fm listeners' charts for Moz. Only Redondo Beach doesn't feature in the top 100. Rest bolded. I fixed some dupes, eg song counted with and without a comma. 1) Irish Blood, English Heart - 17,142 2) First of the Gang to Die - 16,912 3)...

    Which Song and Why?

    That's how people grow up, featuring Kristeen Young's intro. In its current form, I'm Playing Easy to Get is just too vanilla for my liking. Not a bad track, but not an 8+ song either. If it makes it onto an album, I hope it would be a less bland reincarnation of the Janice Long version. Of...

    The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 189: THE OPERATION

    Southpaw sounds infinitely better with my itunes set to ignore the first the two minutes of this song.

    My Mother on Morrissey

    For years my father referred to him as "Morrissey Smith" or "Cheery Mr Smith". I gave up trying to correct him.

    What do you think of the general quality of the new songs?

    Not entirely on topic here, but there's a number of people that rate ROTT highly, and a number that rate it as awful. Certainly far less consensus than for e.g. Vauxhall being sublime and Maladjusted being forgettable. I'm going to speculate/guess/attribute that to whether the Moz cultists like...

    louder than bombs

    Mine is RoughCD255 and I'm 99% certain I bought it in the UK. However on the CD itself it says "made in France by MPO". Is that just the location of the company that presses the discs. Nothing special about it?

    New Song

    Excellent, thank you for posting. I'm not too familiar with Ennio Morricone's early music, but for whatever reason that song made me think of him. As time goes on, it seems that the next Moz album is going to full of fresh material, and not a "repackage"

    Morrissey-Diana => anonymous poll

    I may be guilty of poor choice / misuse / misunderstanding of the word sceptic. When I say sceptic, I'm extending the meaning beyond religion and into the paranormal, alien abductions, fortune telling, mediums, etc. I've always thought that sceptic implied a person who rejects any beliefs...

    Morrissey-Diana => anonymous poll

    Maybe a lot of sceptics listen to Morrissey?

    Morrissey-Diana => anonymous poll

    I'm surprised nobody's voted yes. If 70% of the general population believes that remarkable coincidences are nothing but the consequence of the law of large numbers - for example the amazing Lincoln/Ford assassinations story - and the remaining 30% believe in paranormal/unexplainable phenomena...

    Morrissey-Diana => anonymous poll

    Since a vast number of people in the real world believe in numerology, astrology, and other paranormal phenomena, I assume a number of people here do too. My purely unscientific poll of the day is to find out how many Morrissey fans (since I couldn't get hold of the Windsors) think David Alice...

    Viva Mozwa.com, just quietly

    Hello Celibate. You currently have to register for the main page to post, but can still post anonymously by ticking a box. There was a thread earlier this year about taking that function away completely, and the feeling was that solo would lose some of the upside that comes from anonymous...

    Viva Mozwa.com, just quietly

    Hello mauve21, where is the article on Mozwa? I cannot see it? Edit: front page of solo? While davidt doesn't need to blow smoke up Morrissey's arse (and shouldn't do), the main page can be overwhelmingly negative at times. You sometimes get the feeling that the balance of power lies with a few...

    The release of Viva Hate

    Some of the things that struck me have been mentioned already. i remember being far more impressed with the A-side than the B-side. It didn't sound very Smiths-ish, but distinctly Morrissey (if such a statement is possible), maybe something that we forget now but was significant at the time...

    The Moz/Smiths Top 100, Part 97: JEANE

    One of the few songs where I think Morrissey's voice is strained. If someone wanted to do a parody of Moz, they'd use the "Jeane" voice. :-(
