Cassette bootleg collection

cassettes were the life blood of my life with the smiths. Reading about gigs in the nme and then finding bootleg reocrdings on market stalls was magical. Quality often problematic, excitement rated 10/10. Took you to a place and a time pre internet. Great stuff.

Dave/others, how do you authenticate the promo posters? They go for decent amounts and with modern media etc it seems possible they could be pretty well reproduced. Some tees also go for decent money and it must be possible to reproduce these also. I know we are not talking Monets but...

I used to live in Saudi and visit Bahrain regularly. The tape shops there were much cheaper than Saudi. Those Thomson Originals were buy 10 get one free for about a tenner in total - we are talking 1992/3 time. Just being able to purchase so many meant I was able to check out loads of music...

That Saudi Thomson tape me smile. We used to live in Riyadh for a few years and these kind of counterfeit tapes were a godsend in a kinda entertainment free zone. Even better they were super cheap and you would usually get either bonus songs from bsides/singles etc or parts of other albums...
