Done right, he's sitting on a goldmine of "merch". Using some more tasteful Smiths imagery alone would surely be very lucrative. Mporium is one of those third party merch peddlers that have very little to do with the artist they are printing all over their mugs and hoodies. If only Moz cared to...
Love this. Anything where he alludes to his songwriting and studio work is gold dust to me:
SAM:
'I Live In Oblivion' is so powerful it's actually unsettling. How do you fit rhythmical lines in between crashing marching drums? I didn't ask that question very well. The last two minutes are...
Yeah, this is just as good it gets and means so much to me that I'm not able to explain how/why, nor would I want to.
A 20th century masterpiece and should be part of England's canon.
Absolutely perfect. Not just Morrissey’s best b-side, one of the greatest b-sides from anybody ever, in my opinion.
Those lyrics. Nostalgic, cutting, sad, funny, political, personal. f***ing genius.
Top 5 for me. The 25Live version is my ‘go to’.
So many brilliant and playful lines woven around a pretty nondescript piece of music. This really illustrates Morrissey’s songwriting genius. He may not be a musician as such, but the melody he creates with phraseology and enjambment is unique...
Easily one of his best, most ambitious songs. When I saw the title I feared the worst but still remember exactly where I was when I first heard this. It stopped me in my tracks.
Hollywood Bowl is one of his best ever live moments. Love the lisp on SOS, the plea for "help" and the drama of...
Brilliant song, brilliant chorus and bold lyrics. Slightly let down by the synth horns, as are a few songs on the last two albums - I think that it’s a stylistic choice though rather than the refusal to get a proper orchestra in!
One of his very best, increasingly becoming the centrepiece of his live show. The hammer-horror laughing on the latest couple of tours during the solo/bridge was spectacular. Studio version has a completely different atmosphere.
Is this an upgrade from the existing source? Or is it the ripped “DVD” audio? My source doesn’t have the fadeout of the intro music.
Love this show. Thank you!
"...don't feel so ashamed
To have friends"
Indefinable for me, but this line has it all - I remember feeling frozen to the spot when I first heard it.
You preach what you need to hear. Especially true for Morrissey in this instance.
