Does anybody know what that voice is at the start of Black Cloud? Can't even make out what it says let along work out what it is from... If indeed it is taken from anything.
Any ideas?
I know it gets some hate from the purists, but Quarry has got to be my favourite... So many classics on it, and vocally superb. Vauxhall and I not too far behind, but it's just that last stretch before Speedway where they all start to get a bit samey.
My best guess for shaven cave was that it was a reference to being up someone's arse. Obviously metaphorically in terms of record bosses, but it is kind of a double meaning then when saying 'but none were you'.
Talking of people buying multiple copies... I think that only applies to vinyls anyway, and it looks like the CD and digital sales still outside World Peace. No deluxe edition of the CD (yet).
He does attract quite the following though. I am always shocked at how often I encounter people who still think he was basically the messiah. I literally just avoid the topic of it with my aunt lol otherwise we would probably fall out
I'm actually surprised the Sun haven't used that song title to throw a bit of shit in his direction... Although then again, with comments like the ones he has made recently, maybe they don't need any more ammunition... :paranoid:
I do agree he could sell more, if he wanted to. But the thing is, I'm not sure he does. He already has the money, and his name means anything will sell now anyway, so I guess he just wants to write stuff that showcases his opinions on everything. The circumstances now are so different from when...
How do I apply?? I wouldn't mind doing that for a Joy Division fan club ;)
But I think the fact he has a cult following says a lot. Enough to keep him in the album charts, even in the singles charts in the top 100. Not saying this stuff is amazing, but it is listenable, and a lot of people...
Do you actually have a job or do you troll for a living?
Seriously tho it says a lot that the songs are 'shit' but it still performs pretty well. His best years are gone, but he still produces decent stuff that sells.
How does it work with chart positions anyway? I was under the impression it was every Thursday or Friday that they get announced giving it an official chart position.
I do hope that they will actually release them. It would be a bit bemusing if they didn't anyway, seeing as it would be a good money maker. One of those times where the record label's commercial interests may play into our hands...
As someone else suggesting, a new Swords-esque release would be...
True. But there's no denying that the culture is changing, even if it varies from say Bavaria to Berlin. As I've said, I don't think that's a reason to be anti immigration, but I think it shows that the reasoning from Moz is more selfishness and ignorance rather than racism.
And hypocrisy...
But the point is that now there are different cultures around the world. It is a shame that everything is slowly becoming the same, with the Americanisation of the world etc, but I think it is just nostalgia and selfishness if you say 'therefore let's stop immigration'. Yes I love German...
I don't think it's necessarily real Germans vs fake Germans. I think it's just that he has seen and grown up with a German culture that he liked, and is seeing people moving in and changing the culture, making all culture one big homogeneous thing. Now everyone feels that to a degree imo, but...
Is that Google Translate? If so, then the bits I have looked at are surprisingly accurate.
All the same, well I don't think he has said anything too controversial RE Spacey... But the multiculturalism comments... Well I guess it kinda spells out what we all thought from smaller clues. I don't...
