New Moz photo by Andrew Quinn - "on Cut Throat Lane"

That's right. I pass that lane quite regularly. He's looking well!

Fretsore Records / YouTube: Dana Gillespie - Spent The Day In Bed (Official video)

I don't like the sentiment. It's a bouncy song and only the David Ikeness of the lyric puts me off. But the phrasing and the lyric is solid. The news contrives to frighten you is a great line. Anyway I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it. Despite the obvious that's not a bed issue.

A Place To List Our "Demands" Regarding Everything M-Related

Continue the rerelease programme for the Smiths please. A Strangeways box set with outtakes. An as-planned Harvey Keitel version sleeve for the demos disc. Oh sorry is this a Morrissey-only demand list 😅

Radio Ulster: Give The Smiths Back To The Irish (November 26, 2023)

That's not even a picture of the Smiths. That, if I'm not mistaken, is Morrissey on TOTP doing Last of the Famous International Playboys, backed by Craig Gannon, Andy and Mike...

Morrissey Central "BEAM OF LIGHT." (May 19, 2023)

Classy statement. No blandishments. A fine tribute to a great player.

Mojo: brief Johnny Marr interview (issue 350 "January, 2023")

Sounds like Queen talking to Sacha Baron Cohen about the Freddie biopic. It's a great story with this really sad event half way through.

Morrissey Central "Las Vegas, 2022" - Vegas shows to showcase songs from "Bonfire of Teenagers" (May 20, 2022)

Yeah, that cover is a lot better. Agree the font is bad, and not very clear. But I'll take it. The back cover is fantastic.

The Smiths A-Z: "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me"

Amazing beautiful song. One of their very best. I always imagined Mary Coughlan singing this, in her bluesy style.

"Suedehead" (Original Instrumental) posted by RetroMusicWorld / YouTube (March 13, 2022)

Totally agree. Would love to hear the Street tapes to get a feel for where a song like Suedehead was going before Vinny made his contribution. I think he was going to release them at some point to counter Vinny's claims that he should have had a credit.

"Suedehead" (Original Instrumental) posted by RetroMusicWorld / YouTube (March 13, 2022)

Amazing track. You can hear a few additional Vinny Reilly flourishes buried in the mix. What a musical combination that was. Did Street ever compose anything after Morrissey? Any co-writes? Would dearly love to see some behind the scenes of the production of this record. Thanks to whoever...

    The Smiths A-Z: "I Started Something I Couldn't Finish"

Contrary to much of the album, the lyrics are better than a rather discordant tune. Hair brushed and parted. Do I dare to eat a peach?

Andy Rourke and Johnny Marr today

Good to see Andy looking so well. You'd worry about him. Johnny looks fit and well too although he needs to do a McCartney and introduce some grey into his colour job. I'd love to see a photo with Mike. I never understood why there wasn't a rapprochement there with Johnny at least.

RSD 2022: Sandie Shaw - Hand In Glove coloured vinyl 12" announced (February 16, 2022)

I have the original 12 so not jumping on this one. I like her take on I don't owe you anything. Hand in Glove is strangely over the top production. A bit like Shakespeare's Sister, it's had everything thrown at it.

    The Smiths A-Z: "Golden Lights"

Great to hear general support for this song. I've always quite liked it. I'd not heard that there was a Porter version. Would genuinely like to hear without the vocal effects and different instrumentation.

The Smiths A-Z: "Frankly, Mr Shankly"

Love the trumpet demo version. Was disappointed they didn't use that take on TQID box set. When are getting a box set of Strangeways (yes that seems even more remote a project now unfortunately)? That album is preserved in aspic for me, and needs a reassessment with a full "alternate takes"...
