According to a news posting on neworderonline.com, the New Order/Morrissey tour rumor is not true, as far as the tour manager is aware. The person reporting apparently spoke to New Order's tour manager and so far nothing is in the works. To quote: "Enquired about this Moz/USA thing and drew a blank. The only excursion being mooted at present is a possible Australia / New Zealand tour early next year..." (for New Order). Well, it was fun while it lasted!

  • i would hate to have to fight with new order fans over tickets or getting up front for a general admission show.
morrissey headlining with some nobodies is definitely better for moz fans.

  • New Order is crap anyways. I wish they called it a day after "Republic", because the new record sucks. Plus, I absolutely despise the fact that a band whom once worked with Ian Curtis now hangs with Billy f'n Corgan. Disgraceful. Just that thought alone made me abandon them as a fan.

Johnny Marr now and then has worked with some odd partnerships, but they usually turned out successful. The new N.O. record sounds tired, and I'm sure that bald Pumpkinhead had plenty to do with it.

To see New Order on tour with Morrissey would be horrible. Listen to the BBC live album that came out a few months back. They REALLY suck live. I'm not discrediting their success. I'd like them as much as Joy Division if they:

    1) Stay away from alternative era slapnutz like Corgan. He hardly has any idea as to what New Order has accomplished, and what they can continue to do. He will prove to be nothing but detrimental to their sound.
    2) Get a new damn singer!!! Barney's voice ruins everything live. Gillian is ten times better live and in the studio as a singer. And, even Sumner copycat, David Potts of Monaco, proved to be a better Sumner than Sumner in concert.

Morrissey fans and Joy Division fans deserve better, and if this crazy dream tour becomes a realtiy, I'll treat New Order the same way I treated SACK.

Don't just talk about it. Be about it.
  • As I stated, Morrissey is more than capable
of touring the entire USA (and UK) on his own.
He does not need New Order or any other band.

  • I don't think Moz would even reach this low in his career he's obviously made too much of a name for himself to open for crappy bands i think we'll be seeing Moz till about 2003 or so which in my mind will be slated as his final farewell tour not that i'm not a Moz fan myself.
